Am preparing the move to Ubon in early 2012 and also want to get into farming there starting on my wifes 5 rai!

Who can help with info/experience?

There is a shortage of goats. Closest big market is Malaysia. Goats like heat & dry feet. Perfect for Ubon.

Thailand, itself, has no shortage of goats.Isarn has very few goats, simply because there are so few Muslims live here. Bangkok Muslims are mainly supplied by goats from Ratchaburi or Petchaburi, which produce large quantities. The Deep South also produces lots of goats, for the resident Muslim populations .There is no market for Thai grown goats in Malaysia. Freight costs are way too high.Quite apart from the fact that Malaysia, too produces lots for the domestic market. There could be a very small market for goat meat , in the farang community. Certainly, he/she could grow them , for their own consumption.

Plenty of goats in Ubon now.Couple of dozen around the corner from where I live.

Muslim population is growing due to the people escaping from the troubles down south.
