And a good exercise policy.

I'll make a long story short. I had a friend back home who was a good old boy. Drinking, smoking and carousing and eating a lot of steaks off the BBQ.

He decide he needed to guard his health. He quit drinking, smoking, carousing and limited his red meat intake. He dropped dead while jogging.

I'll just take my chances if it's alright with you.

ADDED - I might add that he lookd quite fit when he died.

This is a very simple thing. If you don't like McDonalds, DON'T eat there. I happen to think that particular location is nicer than most and I enjoy the change of pace. If I listened to all the health food nuts, I'd starve to death. All things in moderation is the secret to good health.

Such has nothing whatsoever to do with food intake and health.

Like most, you've missed the big picture - it's a raising tide of corporatism, control, and the promoting [mindset] of mindless consumption and accumulation.

Look - We do have some problems with Western Fast Food Chains ,, operating in Thailand. One ,is OBESITY. The Thais are progressing very well on that score.Do you know ,that one private school in Bkk. , has a Mcd's on Campus- yes on Campus. So many of their students( chinese -thais are SO fat, they cannot play any sport ). They waddle , like a duck. Health problems? Of course ,but their parents are oblivious Cannot see they are killing their children. I live in a little country town ,very near the Cambodian border. This town has 800 diabetics. Now . And we have no Fast Food Chains here. Why is diabetes so big in Thailand? SUGAR. The Thais are the number consumers of sugar in the world. It goes in everything. Add on Septic Tank fast foods ,and the premature death rate in about 20 years time. is going to BLOW

Nice Western traits to pass on, yes?

Lovely influence that the apologists love to perpetuate.

They should be proud.

this can go on and on...

i am with the camp, that all with moderation.

i am not made to eat rice 3x a day, everyday, i am not made to live sugar free, and i am enjoying once in a while McD, and nope, if my son is with me, i dont think 2x a month such visit will kill him.

i dont see anything wrong with ppl making their choice, and definately dont like that others -sometimes rudely- question their choices. feels they question my decision just the same, and i think i am, and everyone is, entitled to have a free choice. just respect that!

When I first came up to Isaan, there were VERY few bakeries and even bread was hard to find. Now my wife comes home from the local market with all sorts of sugar filled pastries. That trash food is very popular with the Thais because they love everything with a lot of sugar and most can now afford it once in a while.

I seriously doubt that you can blame the western corporate greed for that. I'm really not too concerned about McDonalds and the like taking over Thailand or my life. You'd have to be quite paranoid to believe that.

ADDED - I forgot to mention the ice cream filled slices of bread.

Gary, you forget that some in Thailand insist on saving the Thais from themselves. There is an odd " I am superior so I can pre-judge them" sentiment. I find the Thais more than capable of deciding for themselves what is good or bad for themselves.

Of course as incomes rise, they experiment with new things, including to them Mickey Ds.

Neุxt we will have the nitwits proclaiming that the cause of Thais gaining weight is corporate fast food, not increasing income, not the ability to indulge, but rather that evil corporate influence.
