Hi please help me

I am from the u.k.and hold a u.k. passport i have been offered a job with an American company to work all over Asia .biggrin.gifI will base myself in Thailand. I will have to do a small amount of work in Thailand however most of my work will be outside of Thailand, and the time i spend in Thailand will mostly be time off. There is a devision ofthe American company I will be working for in Thailand and the decision has been made to pay me by this method. So as I can pay tax to the Thai government and they can also assist me in getting my Thai work permit. I have spoken with the Thai embassy in the u.k. and they have advised me that with a letter on company headed paper from both the Thai company, and the u.s. company I will be able to get a 1 year multiple entry Non Immigrant B Visa. Then when I get toThailand the Thai company will have to help me get a work permit. I am OK withthis the part, the part that is now co-fusing me is I will be in and out of Thailand a lot doing my work around Asia, so when I leave Thailand will I need to get a re-entry permit from immigration? or can I come and go as I please even if I am in and out of Thailand say 6 times In a month?

So just to clarify my visa will be issued in the u.k. it will hopefully be a 1 year multiple entry Non Immigrant B Visa and then when I get to Thailand I will get the work permit. So what do I need to do about going out of Thailand for my work is any one on this forum in the same situation I will be and what do you have to do?

Thank you for your help in advance Rick

The multiple non-B allows you to come and go as many times as you want during the period the visa is valid (1 year from date of issue).

So each time I come and go from Thailand at the immigration desk on the way back In to the airport, they will give me a new stamp for 90 days biggrin.gif. If so this is good news as I had been advised by a friend that before I left Thailand i would have to go to the immigration ofice the day before departure and get a re-entry permit each time. What a night mare that situation would become.

You only need a Re-entry Permit if you have applied to extend your visa validity period at Immigration, inside of Thailand; for you this would not be the case whilst you are using the 90 day non- immigrant B entry method.

As you will be regularly leaving and re-entering Thaiiland, the one year multiple entry non B method will be a much better and cheaper approach.

If at any time you do extend your stay a multi re-entry permit is easily available for the full one year period so there would not be any need to visit immigration every time you had to leave if you paid the 3,800 baht for that.

so next year when it comes to getting a new visa if i got my self to say Malaysia and got the 3 month multiple entry visa. then returned to Thailand and got my work visa and my extension of stay (making sure it was also a multiple entry extension) i would be all go to go in and out of Thailand as i pleased yet again?

also what if any extra paper work would i need to get my visa from somewhere like Malaysia as to get it from the u.k. i just need a letter on company headed paper explaining the need to get a visa?

thanks this has been very helpful

There is no such thing as a multi entry 3 month visa. To obtain a one year multi entry would require work permit with 8 months or more remaining and full company paperwork (not just a letter) in Malaysia or any local consulate (but exact paperwork varies a bit). You do not use re-entry permits with a multi entry visa. If you extend inside Thailand at an immigration office before your one year visa ends then you would need re-entry permits for your travel to keep the extension of stay alive. But in your case a multi entry visa is likely your best option unless your company tells you otherwise.

so at the end of my first year when my visa is coming to an end what would you suggest would be the best thing to do for the second year?

thanks rick

Why not wait awhile to worry about that? It will make a difference what your company wants; if you have a two year work permit; if conditions at Consulates are the same; if you still have the job or have moved to something else; if the stars are in alignment.
