We have a baby who was born in Thailand to British parents.

We'd like to get her a British passport so she can travel etc.

So far all we have is the Thai birth certificate which has been translated by the hospital's translation service into English.

I've looked on the embassy website but I'm still not entirely sure how to proceed. Also it says on the website it takes a minimum of six weeks to do a new passport. Is there an express service to get it done quicker?

So my question is: how do I get the passport from Bangkok and can I get it quicker than six weeks?

Thanks!

Its not difficult, just search all the uk and (Bangkok of course) passport sites, for info re first passport child that agrees with your position, what is required photos etc. There is no passport issued Bangkok they will check your application and send it to HK takes six weeks ish, no quick way I think

Suppose its possible to get an emergency passport to fly back to the UK - then get one there for long term use (can do that in a day!) - as expected, call the embassy in BKK.

You should be aware that if your kids in the future marry a non-brit and have kids outside of the UK- their kids/your grand kids will NOT be able to get a British passport.
