Hi, I'm travelling London to Bangkok on July 31st and have a return ticket for December 14th. However, within that time I'll also be flying BKK-Tokyo on August 7th, returning on August 15th.

Could anyone advise me of the best visa option? My idea is to stay in Thailand for 30 days (visa exempt) after returning to BKK from Tokyo. Then I'd get a flight to Vientiane for a few days and apply for a 60 day tourist visa while there. After the 60 days I'd apply for a 30 day extension, which would be valid until my return flight to London.

I'd be really grateful for anyone's thoughts - and sorry if it's a dumb question but I wasn't able to find a specific answer elsewhere!

You should have that Tokyo ticket for your first Bangkok entry and the Vientiane ticket for your second entry. With those in hand you should be able to receive 30 day visa exempt entry and not have an airline issue.
