KENNEDY SPACE CENTER (BNO NEWS) -- NASA's Space Shuttle Atlantis blasted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Friday morning, beginning a 12-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Atlantis' STS-135 mission is the final flight of the Space Shuttle Program.

I'm really disappointed that my boys won't get back in time for us to see them launch in person I would have liked to share that with them, there's nothing to do a launch justice unless you've seen it live, it's just awe inspiring. I'm from Florida and have seen nearly every one until I came here unfortunately even the tragic ones and the last one I saw was the failed return of Columbia :( as it was suspended for some time after that tragedy... But night launches light up the sky like day light and even in the nearly 100degree summers when they fly over head even miles into space already you can still feel the massive heat flowing down over you miles up, the ground shakes even as much as 10 miles away, awesome and inspirational!! Now what?? :( paying the Russians to fly us there and employing their people :annoyed::( depressing....

I watched the live feed from NASA from 2 hours prior and then the launch, awesome stuff to see.
