Chainsaw Bar & Chain Oil

Featured Replies

Has anybody seen chainsaw bar & chain oil for sale by the gallon anywhere in Thailand?

This is not a solicitation for chain oil substitutes, nor is is a solitication for the law on chainsaws.

I simply want to purchase some correctly formulated "real" bar and chain oil, and I cannot find it anywhere.

Thanks!

yeah there are shops throughout Issan. The most population version comes in a yellow jug but it still looks like used motor oil.

The bars are common also ...usually Oregon brand unless you go J ape ewe like Hitachi which is at least 2x the price. Bought both in a local shop in Wang Saphung up near Loei last week.

The yellow jug is just higher viscosity not proper bar oil with the proper additives to make it stick to the bar. I just use 40 wt. oil. Thailand sucks for sourcing anything tool related and just about anything else now that I think about it.

Have you tried contacting Ian the guy up north that sells and services Husky products? He may have a solution for you.

Thanks for all the replies. It was the result I feared. I saw one website where a guy said that mixing 1/3 STP Oil Treament with 2/3 SAE 30 or 40 would give the oil a stickiness close to regular bar oil. In the meantime, I have an inquiry in to the Husky dealer.
