Transit Visa For Russian Citizen

Featured Replies

I am a Russian passport holder and will be travelling from Sydney, Australia to Munich transiting via Bangkok, I will be staying there for nearly 24 hours. Am I required to get a transit visa prior travelling?or can I get one at the airport?

Thank you,

Valeria

No need for Transit visa. Just proceed to immigration and you will get a 30 day entry for free.

(Ignore the signs at the airport that say Visa On Arrival, you will get a visa exempt entry)

EDIT:

moved to visa section

Russia is not on the MFA published list of visa exempt countries. It seems you will need a transit visa or tourist visa. You can apply at the nearest Royal Thai consulate or embassy.

Under a bilateral agreement Russian Citizens get 30 days on entry.

But they have a bilateral agreement with Thailand and do not require a visa for 30 day stay.

II. List of countries which have concluded agreements on the exemption of visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports with Thailand and permitted to stay for a period of not exceeding 14, 30 and 90 days

14 DAYS

1. Combodia

30 DAYS

1. Hong Kong SAR (***)

2. Laos

3. Macau SAR (***)

4. Mongolia

5. Russia

6. Vietnam

Sometimes the files are not up to date or contain small mistakes.

Russian nationals get 30days under the Bilateral agreement whenever and wherever they enter Thailand
