Visa And Work Permit

Featured Replies

Quick question. If one has a one year Non B Visa and a school obtains a work permit for this visa, if the work permit is cancelled can one get another work permit on the same visa? would this cause a problem with immigration? many thanks

Only, possibly, if the visa itself was notated with a school name (some Consulates seem to do this from a few reports). Any extension of stay would end at end of work however.

What you actually have is important. A valid 1 year non-B visa on which you leave the country every 90 days or an extension of stay from immigration in Thailand.

As said, when the WP is cancelled an extension of stay would also end. You would have to leave the country the same day, or get a permisison to stay for 7 days. If you manage to get a new WP and all the required documents from the new employer within these 7 days, you can get a new 1 year pemisison to stay.

thank you for the response.

Here are the details. A one year double entry Non B work visa granted from my home country. the visa was granted from a different school than the one which granted me the work permit so there should be no issue there.

The visa is valid until May. so no extention of stay.

there could be a better opportunity available before the extention of stay is granted thus the thought to move before than after.

I am concerned about two things, leaving the first job and if the second job would have any trouble getting a work permit for the same said visa or if I need to start from scratch all over again.

thank you for your advice, hopefully things will work out for me here

Please confirm the wording on that visa as it should be single entry or multi entry (not double entry). What did you pay for the visa? Was this Canada?

Presume you mean the Non Immigrant B visa is Multiple Entry, so you currently have to do border runs at least every 90 days.

If you get a new job whilst you are on this visa, then there should be no problem with another Work Permit Application, providing you have around 4 weeks or more stay remaining on your most recent entry stamp.

If you get an Extension of Stay based on working in the Kingdom of Thailand, then that extension would be canceled the day you leave your job and you would have to immediately exit Thaliand.

However in the above, your current Non Immigrant B Visa would allow you to go to the border right up to the 'Enter Before' date on your visa and get a new 90 day stamp with plenty of time to sort out your new WP application..

Hello

thank you for your reply.

if one has the non immigrant b visa

I have been advised that one can just report to

the 90 day reporting center

or does one HAVE to leave the country for sure

As someone already asked what is the wording on your visa?

If you have an extension from Immigration in Thailand you report every 90 days, if you

have a multi entry you must leave the country.

Hello

It is a royal thai consolate general toronto (canada) issued visa. category B ---not an extention of stay. It is not a multiple entry (apparently this this year they cannot issue) but a two journey's one year visa that would need a re-entry permit after the second exit and re-entry.

I have a work permit but have found out this job is not for me and should find another.

Thank you all

You are quite correct in that Toronto issue a 'double-entry' Non Imm B and also the usual single entry if required.

So you have a total of 180 days in Thailand right? With a border run in between.

You should be fine.

As has been said, you have to leave the country to get a new stay of 90 days.
