Living Year Round In Krabi

Featured Replies

Hello people. I have never been to Krabi. I was going to go last April but the weather did not cooperate. If I had gone it would have been the touristy thing. My boy was visiting from Canada and wanted to go to a beach.

I currently live in Chiang Mai and am in a committed relationship with the same women for 5 years. I am not looking for the bar scene as it does not agree with people around me. Was wondering what Krabi had to offer. Is there used book stores. What is the internet service like? What kind of activities can one do on a daily bases? You see what I am looking for just general information for a permanent resident.

All information greatly appreciated.:jap:

There are used booked stores in both, Krabi town and Ao Nang. Internet services are good. Most residents have their own, private connection and most restaurants offer wifi. Beside water sports, Krabi is great for cycling, rock climbing and there is an active mixed farang/Thai football team playing almost weekly with weekly practice sessions. Sure, there are many tourists during the main season, but not as touristy as places like Patong, Pattaya or Koh Samui. Koh Lanta in Krabi is most relaxed, but also with less sport activities on offer. Both Koh Lanta and Ao Nang turn rather deserted during off season. Many shops and restaurant close to refurbish and gear up for the next high season. If you do not mind a hot climate against the much cooler climate in Chiang Mai, Krabi is certainly a nice place to live.

+1 agreed  good post KM

In addition both Lanta and Ao Nang can get a little expensive, stick to the outer areas, (Krabi Town as an example) for normal pricing.

thanks Guys

I forgot about the heat factor. but to the best of my knowledge the air is breathable year round.

I expect what I will have to do is try a local hotel in the hot time to see how it is. I expect the humidity is high?
