SERIOUS FLOODING IN KANCHANBURI CAUSED DISMAY TO NEARLY 300 FAMILIES

DAN MA KHAM TIA (ด่านมะขามเตี้ย) District Chief in KANCHANABURI (กาญจนบุรี) Province PIPAT SANGKHALERK (พิพัฒน์ ศังขะฤกษ์) said that serious flodding had caused damage to 3,000 rais of agricultural lands. Furthermore, he said nearly 300 families and 700 residents have been seriously affected.

Mr Pipat added that 20 roads and a bridge was destroyed. However, there were no reports of deaths. Currently, Mr. PIPAT has asked for cooperation from the all related agencies including local administrative officers, provincial administrative officers, and the provincial officers. Moreover, further inspection on the damages will continue. They will be meeting with officials at the Western Region Water Resource Cluster. The DAN MA KHAM TIA (ด่านมะขามเตี้ย) District will provide assistance such as food and clothing to those affected. Evacuations of residents have already taken place.

INTERIOR MINISTER VISITS FLOOD SITUATION AND DONATES SURVIVAL KITS TO LOCALS

Minister of Interior KONGSAK WANTHANA (คงศักดิ์ วันทนา) is today visiting flooded areas to examine the flood situation and he also donates the survival kits to the flood victims in CHUMPORN (ชุมพร), PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN (ประจวบคีรีขันธ์), RATCHABURI (ราชบุรี), and KANCHANABURI (กาญจนบุรี) Provinces.

This morning (27th October 2005), Pol. Gen. KONGSAK and his entourage have visited the flood area in NAKRA (นากระ) administrative office, TA-SAE (ท่าแซะ) District in CHUMPORN Province and HUA-HIN (หัวหิน)municipality area. The PRACHUAPKIRIKHAN and PHETCHABURI Governors presented the summary report of the flood situation in each province to the Interior Minister. Then, the Interior Minister and his entourage will examine the flood situation at TA-KEI (ท่าเคย) Irrigation Project, BAN KA (บ้านคา) Sub-District, RATCHABURI Province. After that Pol. Gen. KONGSAK will visit the NONGPAI (หนองไผ่) administrative office, DANMAKHAMTIA (ด่านมะขามเตี้ย) District in KANCHANABURI Province. Regarding the visiting of the Interior Minister in flood areas, Pol. Gen. KONGSAK will donate the 500 survival kits to the flood victims in the respective areas.
