Have any of you found a successful way of doing this? The car would cost 3 mill Baht, it is red and has a horse on the front (and lots under the hood :) ) I realise I am battling uphill in to wind but if anyone knows if its a possibility and how much tax I would pay on the car.

Thanks in advance.

What is costs doesn't matter much - it's all about what Thai customs value it at. Assuming the car isn't too old, total landed taxes would run ~330% of valuation + shipping + insurance, plus tea money. So approx 10M baht in taxes if they value it at your purchase price, but more likely double that.

"plus the tea money"

And this bit could actually be the most expensive.....Don't do it unless you have LOT'S of spare cash..

Ive seen a few high end cars leave England with Thai number plates fitted to them, when they are unloaded from the airplane they are taking straight out the back of the airport on a tilt tray.

Definitely not legal and I suspect is still a very costly operation.

I think I will be forgetting the idea then! I am sure I read on here a few years ago, the cheapest way to do it would be to buy two of the cars. One for you and the other one for the customs man.
