Swedish Slashers Confess To Phuket Police

If they write a book about this, its title will be "A Tale of 3 Idiots" !

Idiot #1 dobs in his ex-mates, goes into hiding, and then puts his new location on facebook

Idiot #2 rents a room opposite using his own passport. Within minutes BIB knows their prime suspect.

Idiot #3 rents a room, then disposes of his knife and blood-soaked shirt by throwing them in the swimming pool.

My dog is smarter than this lot.

I agree, why would you throw the knife in to the swimming pool behind your, room??Dumb and dumber by the sound of it.

Luckily, violent criminals are rarely the sharpest knives in the drawer.

These Swedes are typical pond scum, I hope they will NOT be deported to Swenden, but be seen from time to time cleaning the sewers of Bangkok under good guard.

Found out what went wrong with yesterday's initial report ! Yesterday was the bi-annual soccer match between the jet-ski operators and tuk-tuk drivers, held just down the road.

The jet-ski operators walked past the posh resort, and when a murder was reported, it was instantly assumed that they were the perpetrators. Well you would, wouldn't you.

BTW Full match report on back page of Phuket Gazette. Final score was 3-2 (3 stabbings and 2 gun-shot wounds).

Very Funny :D:D:D

So "Around 12 Thai men" turns into 2 farang.

Smells fishy to me.....

I'm surprised that soo many of you have jumped onto the bandwagon of instantly condemning them, even though the details are soo inconsistent with yesterdays article.

Take into account how quickly the police found and tracked them down, in comparison to similar cases, and I'm thinking there's definitely something fishy going on

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. In just 24 hours 12 Thai men (as seen by several witnesses) become 2 Farrhangs. And those 2 Farrhangs are so dumb they leave a perfect trail of clues and perfetly preserved evidence to lead the BiB straight to they're door! Every coppers dream case!

What!!!???

"I'm surprised that soo many of you have jumped onto the bandwagon of instantly condemning them".

Where did anyone condemn them???

All those readers of the first article where it was reported that 11+1 Thai's were, as some witnesses had told the police, involved in the killing of the Swede assumed that this was the case (if the article was to be believed and of which nobody knew that it was complete bunkum you should note) - YOU included at this point!!! Accept???

Only after the second article did the details become clear, indicating that the initial article was false reporting. All of the postings on this thread are based on the details in the second article where the situation of the stabbing has been corrected and cleared up.

Why it that case would people be condemning those phantom Thai's if the 2 Swedes had already confessed to the murder???

I'm not so sure that as the reply poster implies it is only the two Swede's that are dumb!!!

"Tommy was in the group we arrested [in February], but we didn't catch Johan.

Tommy ?

Johan ?

Why are the police on first name terms with the killers ??

That they have referred to them by their first names, does not mean they are "on first name terms" with them. You really want to make the police look bad.

I will say, from what we now know, there was obviously some pretty good police work done to apprehend these two so quickly. And that all three are off them streets, these two and the dead one.

If Tommy and Johan were sentenced in Norway, they'd maybe get 21 years max in a very comfortable 'prison', but walk in half that time or less, for being good little boys and eating their dinner without making a mess. I'd say these guys will be away for the long haul, in a real prison. .. well, let's hope.

Im not a conspiracy theorist but this is all too easy and convenient. For a start these two must have known they would be nailed for this IF they did the crime..... secondly there not wide eyed blue eyed lads who have just landed in paradise.. there con men who know how to calculate risks.

Why are they clean shaven ???

Body language.. sitting forward confidently with arms in front almost ready to answer questions. no hint of fear. remorse or foreboding is conveyed at all .. folks who are facing life in prison , ratholes at that, generally will be sitting back , look sullen, tired often unkempt and be wondering what the hell will become of me.. these guys look like they are opposing soccer captains doing a pre match interview.

Who has vested interest is seeing the murder of farang quickly solved.... answer is Phuket Government/ Police.. what is neatest political and social solution.. other farangs did it.

Confessions.. any person and especially conmen know not to confess to anything.

Im sorry I just find this wayyyyyyyyy to convenient and quick as it pertains to a solution.

Something just doesn't smell right about this...

Are you sure that you are not the reporter responsible for issuing that first article?? as it is even more unbelievable and complete claptrap of the highest order (and that's being generous).

If you are contemplating becoming a detective or psychologist then I shouldn't bother if I was you - not until you emerge from your fantasy world, anyway :D

Just to add something here and i care not to comment on the previous reprt of 12 Thais doing it.... they found the blood soaked knife and the gun. Let me understand this.. the gun which was not used was discarded and presumably if you read the report hasn't been found... the knife and blood soaked shirt was found in the swimming pool ( or at least the knife was)..... So if I did it and wanted to confess why would I not reveal whereabouts of the gun which wasn't used.

This is really strange.....

Officer we admit to first degree murder but we simply cannot and will not admit to anything about an unlicensed and illegal firearm which wasn't used if we had so had aforementioned weapon in our possession.

Look at the picture.. really loo do these poeple look like they have nothing now in life to hope for...... its too quick, too clean, too circumstantial, too dumb to not have some other angle to it.

I once commented that thai police can be pretty good if they want to but someone commented "Did you just step off a f.@ck#n plane?"

Sounds like something these two who just got arrested would have said a few days ago. Unbelievable the stupidity of the crimes some foreigners commit based entirely off of their bar stool beliefs that the police here can't catch them

So it was nothing to do with a love triangle, purely murder because he reported thier criminal activity. A complete waiste of life for purely acting like any decent citizen. I hope these two get life in a dirty cockroach/rat infested prison.

They will get cockroach/rat infested prison there is no option

Isn't it amazing at how they can solve this case involving foreigners so quickly? With so many involving politicians never getting solved?

Spare me the conspiracy theories! They admitted guilt so case solved. If you feel persecuted as a foreigner then go home!

Wow. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? A bit angry, aren't we?

Please read the article:

Police said they caught Tommy Viktor Soderlund, 26, and Johan Sebastian Ljung, 25, hiding out at Surin Sweet Hotel on Surin Beach where they had recently rented a room.

The police investigated the case and found where these guys were hiding. They arrested them and with the usual interrogation techniques here, got them to confess. It's not like in your home country where you get to talk with a lawyer before having to say anything to the police.

My point was, they were found quickly. Not always the case, for example the doctor who got hit in Bangkok??? The police chief there got sacked for not solving the case quickly enough.

And no, I don't feel persecuted, so not anxious to leave.

Yeah alright it's one big conspiracy against the ferrang??? I think turning up at a hotel covered in blood is hardly hiding

If your conspiracy theory is based on the gun (or lack of) consider this - after murder they return to hotel #2 (Angel?) where a non-involved friend or girlfriend is waiting. Friend says "I'm out of here (I would)". They ask will he/she take gun with him/her, not a problem, but they ain't about to travel with a bloody knife and shirt. Person #3 departs stage left, 2 idiots change hotel where they are caught.

When asked "Where's the gun?" idiots who are still wondering why they mentioned it in the first place, decline to dob in mate who is/was helping them.

Where's my trench coat and fedora?

In a still photo you don't see any signs of consternation. Could be that they are so thick it hasn't occurred to them yet how deep the doo-doo is, OR they believe they can buy their way out like they did in Pattaya.

Problem is the BIB in Phuket are much more uncorruptable than those in Patts! (That was a joke Joyce!)

The explanation is never that complicated. It's always simple. There's no mystery to the street, no arch criminal behind it all. If you got a dead body and you think his brother did it, you're gonna find out you're right. -Verbal Kint

I think you have an overactive imagination. This looks clean and simple to me, a bunch on con artist get ratted out by one of their own many months back in Pattaya. The rat moves to Phuket, the guys find and stake him out and with a little flip of the wrist they take him out. They were all in the business of conning people, you choose a seedy path in life you meet seedy characters. It's just that simple.

Arrested within 24 hours as they happen to be foreign.

What happened to the '12 men' of yesterday's report? Those who attacked the victim after laying in wait?

All fiction then?

So what are we to believe with such contradictory reporting?

I actually don't believe these men did it.

No witnesses. No evidence. As for the knife .................. they spotted some thing floating in the swimming pool. It was brown and floating. Must be a knife then.

Just reported confessions or so the police say. You know the type of thing. It's called torture when you manage to stop screaming and utter 'OK.' Strange those boys could only manage an 'x' when it came to signing the confession.

Had to laugh at the admission that there are no laws for cheating people in Thailand. It's called fraud actually. Foolishly I'd expect a police officer - a Major General at that but not a Modern Major General as he doesn't have any information vegetable, animal or mineral - to have known that.

So it's a not a crime in Thailand. But then what is? Murder is a mere inconvenience if it happens accidentally and is usually done to order when there is a 'personal conflict' like someone stepping on your shoe at the disco.

A bit like fitting up the first two Swedes they can find. I'm surprised they didn't grab an African and an Indian called Kurt and Jan. We all look alike to them.

Or is it normal to expect small time white collar crims - fraudsters to fall out - and move straight to murder. to Thai logic it is.

Yeah.

I started out shoplifting and went for promotion. I shot six dead at a shopping Mall the next day.

Likely.

That hog wash will wash in a Thai court where justice is as likely as snow in July - but those lads are fitted up. Free room and board at the Bangkok Hilton and as much sausage meat as they can stomach.

The light at the end of their tunnel is that the police merely want to extort release monies and then it'll all be forgotten. Tea [money] on a scale exported by China.

I hope the Swedish Consular for Pattaya is more effective than the British one - Howard Miller in Pattaya - otherwise they'll be un-fed and left to rot.

We need to get back to normal now the streets have been cleared of those murderers! Isn't it about time we saw another woman murdered on the beaches of Phuket? It's been at least a week.

Next.

I dont know why some are septical about this story... it makes more sense than the 12 thai men just to kill 1 swedish...

It was easy for the police to track down 2 farang on a stolen motobike and trying to hide themself at the quiet Surin beach... It's quite sure they didnt plan to kill this guy, most probably wanted to scare him and get back some money since they lost their work...

If I remember correctly from the first article, the victims laptop computer was left behind. Obviously BIB will find incriminating evidence in there. That is probably why they have been able to piece the crime together so quickly. Good job BIB. Keep up the good work.

If true, then it shows European double standards.

However, as the crime is committed in Thailand, I don't see how or why they should be transferred back to Sweden. I don't know criminal law - can anyone shed some light on this?
