Hello Samuians,

My wife and I are popping down to Samui for a few days in late August/early September, and we are looking for a hotel with the following credentials:

- Lamai Beach

- Preferably not more that 6000 Baht

- Would love a sea view but does not have to be on the beach

- Must have a swimming pool.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The weekender is worth checking its in your price range and is central Lamai beach. Also try the beach republic and the pavilion as they have some good web offers. Gl and enjoy Lamai :D

Thanks for the tip! I will check it out. I'm pretty sure we will enjoy ourselves even though Koh Samui has changed so much the last couple of decades. I was there as a back packer in 1988 and stayed on Lamai Beach.

Back then Lamai was just an intersection of two dirt roads, with a few bungalow "resorts", some beer bars and a bamboo disco. Great fun .

I visited Samui again in 2005. Wow, what a change!

6000 thb a night ?

Yes, per night. My back packing days are over ;)

Check out Pavillion Resort on Lamai beach or the Renaisance (spelling) if you don't mind being a bit further out. Also Rocky's (also if you don't mind being further out of Lamai. Check on Sawasdee.com.

Cheers.

I checked out Pavilion on Sawadee.com and was quoted 7000 Baht incl. all taxes for a "Hydro Pool Villa" that on the pavilion website is listed as 20000 Baht ++. That's almost suspiciously cheap. Do you have experience with this website from before?

Been around a long time and very reputable as far as I know.

Cheers.
