Going From Krabi To Phuket

Hello all. I will be in the area towards the end of November staying in Krabi for 3 nights then Phuket for 2 nights. I was wondering if anyone knows the quickest way of getting to Phuket from Krabi? My guess is by boat, so does anyone know how often boats go from Krabi to Phuket? Can I just hire anyone off the Krabi coast to take me and my luggage to Phuket or is there just one company that does such a thing?
