At least in the US, the phrase "that's so gay" is very popular and it is generally used very negatively to saying something is bad, undesirable, to be avoided, etc, and to project that negativity upon gay people. It is probably most common among young people who living in a homophobic culture, the last thing they want is to be seen as looking or acting gay.

A poster here has asserted that he who is gay regularly uses the the phrase "that's so gay" among his gay friends.

I find this very odd, thus the poll.

If you are gay and do use the phrase among your gay friends, can you explain the typical context?

Positive to gay people, negative to gay people, ironic, an alternative to fabulous, etc.

I don't think gay people generally use the phrase with each other, but this poll may potentially be interesting.

I'm an Aussie so I never use it.

It's so 'Yankie'

JT, you do not need to open a second discussion so you can have a poll.

Enough!
