Currently have "WETV" which is okay.. cheap and has some basic channels, but I would like to buy a sports package with stuff like NFL games, MLB NBA in addiction to football/soccer games. HDTV would be nice as well! I hear mixed/mostly poor things about True platinum/gold, but will look into these.

If it's sports you are particularly referring to, the Premier League coverage is the best and loads of other sports.

I think for those who complain, they get True mostly for movies and other stuff, in which case I will say it's not great. I have a friend who is ruled by his Thai wife, she only watches Thai channels, which at 1500 up is a waste of money. Maybe a lot of other complainers are in the same boat.

For me it's worth the money just for sports, the rest is just a bonus.

I agree with you up until a point there ups that is until i get at 2am to watch my team lose 3-0, then it become a complete waste of money

Go to bed mate you need your rest - you can avoid the scores by not watching the news (do you watch the news?) and watch it the next day.
