The PCX towers above all Honda scooters. We had a Click, now have Airblade and PCX. The latter is a mile apart. :D

Why? I've only looked at it, and it definitely looks more mature / more luxurious, but in what ways do you consider it way better?

Because having had a Click and still have an Airblade and PCX, riding them all, the PCX is like getting into a Merc after getting out a Proton taxi.

PCX seat is good, has sloping footrests for a nice relaxed sitting position and the big tyres certainly help with the bad roads. Though a heavy-ish bike for a 125 it fly's. Centre of gravity is very low and you can feel that in maneuvers. Nice wide handle bars make it a pleasure to drive.

When starting you do not hear a starter motor, just the engine purr, same with the great start/stop function, stop at the lights and engine stops, green light, open the throttle, no lag, it just goes. :D

Hi 'transam' I've just had a look at the PCX on the net……Can't see a price in Thailand. How much are they, and are there 2nd hand ones about yet?

Cheers

PCX is anywhere between 72 - 78.000 baht, appear to depend on the dealer, think best price is if you buy, not just ask.. I found go into a main Honda dealer Monday and it is 72,000 go back on Friday bur see a different sale person and it has gone up by a few thousand.

2nd hand is a shock.. Thailand's book price Recommended 2nd hand early 2010 = 50,000 baht, up to a 6 month old 2011 for 60,000 baht... To me that appear to be a big loss in a very short time....... 22 - 25,000 baht in 18 months !! The Yamaha Elegance loses a lot less, the Suzuki even less.

There are a few about in different classified advert.. price range in the last few months for a 2010.. 12 - 18 months old is anywhere between 46 - 105,000 baht, many have been modified [pay more and get no warranty !! :( ]

Thanks for all suggestions. I'm pretty stuck on the PCX to be honest. Just watching some YouTube videos and see the price in the States is about $3300, which is about 100K baht right ... so the Thai price of 75K baht is excellent.

Can someone just confirm this is the 2011 version sold in Thailand?

Hi, i've had the Suzi Skydrive for over a year,, no probs whatsoever, good acceleration and excellent handling,, chased a blighter who was on one of them racing style scooters that stole my neck chain through the streets of Pattaya for 4 or 5kms,, would have caught him if I hadn't remembered the wife was on the back and thought I should slow down ,,, I've thought of the PCX and nearly bought one a couple months back, but thought higher risk of getting it stolen than a skydrive, yas I know its alarmed, but that still don't deter them.

Honda Air Blade is a 110cc Fi

for 10,000 baht cheaper you could get the Suzuki Skydrive 125cc Fi, a very fine bike, has more power + cheaper to buy.

I love the PCX, but Suzuki Hayate 125cc Fi is so much cheaper I mean 25,000 baht cheaper..

Even cheaper and appears to be more on the roads every time i go out is the Sym 125 Jet4, also a bigger bike..

As for maybe a bigger bike later, Sym also appear to have here the Joyride 200cc at 127,000 baht and the GTS 300 cc at 175,000 baht.

Nat Honda on haew kaew goin towards cmu has a good selection. I purchased mine there and although some may disagree, I have had very good after the sale service from them. My airblade was bought new about a tear ago for 59k with insurance an 5 free services up to 10k kilometers. Nat riders jacket and helmet thrown in. Caution , helmet is compareble to an egg shell and I would buy the best helmet you can find here usually at the Kawasaki dealers especially withbur limited riding experience. Be ware also of the buyers right turn and quene procedures at intersection

Since you are an inexperienced driver learning to drive in Chiang Mai, please let me and everyone else know when ever you go out riding ;)

And don't forget to stop at the redlights. :)

Hi 'pete66' I know this slightly off-topic…… just some friendly advice' I don't think you will have any mishaps on your early ventures out on your new bike, let's face it, you will be way too nervous, and aware of your surroundings to do anything……..daft, sure you will make a few 'sprog' mistakes, small ones, I hope, you can learn from these. This period is not that big a danger.

Be aware the dangers out on the road anywhere are at their worst when a new rider feels he's now a bike rider, handling the bike will come quick, there not hard to ride, but…….experience in reading the road conditionand other road user's intentions take time to read.

Tonto's top tips; maintain all-round observation, (evenbehind you) don't just follow anther rider 'though a hole in traffic', across junction…Look, don't ride to close, and be aware of vehicle closing speeds, (funny, but not all Thai vehicles have rear brake light) DON'T drink and ride!!!!!!! It WILL kill you.

There is so, so much more to tell………But you'll get it, I'msure. Just one last thing…….Get a good helmet, and keep it done up!

Sorry to go on, I'm not trying to patronize you, I just remember my early days on a bike, both funny and scary when I think back, and trust me…….Falling of a bike, even when you can walk away… Hurts like hell!

Good luck…….Evel

Why buck a trend?

Yeah, thanks, good advice. I am going to get a decent helmet and also obey the mantra of "don't drink and ride". I'm dangerous enough walking when I'm pissed up!!

And honda parts are cheaper and readily available always when a suzuki goes wrong it's much harder to source the parts thats why i have always stuck to honda i have had 2 suzukis and i sold them because i had nothing but problems with them .

Can't comment on the availability of spare parts since my Sizuki has not required any replacement parts in more than 1 year and it was 6 months old when I purchased it,, I suppose availability of parts would likely depend largely on your location, I do like the looks and the reports I hear from PCX users, i'm certainly not biased towards Suzuki, but as yet apart from the PCX i've not seen nothing else similar worth changing for, but each to their own.
