Ulysses G.
Simply, all the US has to do is veto the vote. Why use a threat to deny them putting the question to a vote. That is anti democracy and against what the US holds so dear, isn't it? No it is not. There is nothing "anti democratic" about it. If you look at any democratic government in the world, they are playing politics in this matter on a daily basis and the US is sending a message to the Arabs that their government is a terrorist organization and does not meet the criteria for a vote. Common Thinking Fallacies, Smokescreens, and Propaganda TechniquesFalse Comparison or Analogy This is an argument that contains a contextual error or a neglected aspect. It occurs when we assume that two things that are alike in one specific way are alike in other ways. "Skis and roller skates are both strapped on your feet. Skis help you travel over snow efficiently, so roller skates would help you travel efficiently over snow." http://hawaii.edu/wwwreading/Fallacies/fallacydefinitions.htm Edited August 28, 2011 by Ulysses G. The US can veto. It is simply bullying. However, it is now a moot point as the US has denied the threat. At least THEY understand it is the wrong thing to do. Ulysses G.
If they did not say it in the first place, why would they say that they did? It has nothing to do with being "wrong". Changing the Subject This fallacy includes the use of irrelevant information to support an argument and is sometimes referred to as the red herring fallacy. Such facts are distracting and unrelated, for example "We need to spend more money on education. Just because the Russians are increasing military spending doesn't mean we should. The future of the nation depends on the children of today." Mystery writers often use red herrings to lead the reader away from identifying the real culprit. Edited August 28, 2011 by Ulysses G. Wallaby
They didn't say it in the first place. It was reported that way. I must accede to your knowledge of what it is to be wrong. Edited August 28, 2011 by Wallaby
Ulysses G.
However, it is now a moot point as the US has denied the threat. Then why are you still arguing about it? This thread should be closed as it is about something that never happened.
Colin Yai
"BTW, Israel already knows she will lost this vote in the UN --" Israel has absolutely no power in the UN anyway so they have no say as to whether they win or lose. US has the power to veto which they probably will because the Palestinians refuse to stop firing rockets into Israel. Both the Hamas and Hezbollah charters state that they will never recognize Israel as a State and they will never stop fighting until Israel is wiped off the map. Hi Timtang , the depth of the problem is portrayed all to well when the Hamas kids are being indoctrinated into killing jews ,please Google up YOUTUBE "Children of Hamas" , as far as I am concerned there will never be peace so long as Hamas is being bankrolled by various Islamic Country's such as Iran www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTGbP55HGi8 Edited August 29, 2011 by Colin Yai
Scott
I think I am in agreement. It's pointless to discuss a situation that didn't happen. //CLOSED//
