Shooting outside Copenhagen mosque kills 1

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK (BNO NEWS) -- A man was shot dead outside a mosque in Denmark on Tuesday after exiting a prayer service as Muslims worldwide celebrate the end of the Ramadan fasting month, local media reported.

The crime happened just outside a mosque in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, when a 21-year-old man of Pakistani origin received a fatal gunshot wound after finishing a prayer service which celebrated the end of Ramadan, the Copenhagen Post reported.

According to reports, two groups of young men were arguing and fighting after exiting the mosque, which congregates around 1,000 people. The situation escalated, shots were then fired and knives were also used during the scuffle.

During the incident, up to 20 gunshots were fired outside the mosque, police said, adding that two other people were injured during the shooting as well. A third victim sustained injuries after being stabbed.

A man in his 30s, believed to be of Pakistani origin as well, is being sought as he was seen standing over the fatal victim and later fled in a green van. It was not immediately known why the group was fighting, or if the fatal victim was involved in the fight.
