First of all, did the Nation really need to use the term "political officers"?

Were there any appointments of deputies or assistants that weren't red leaders?

Thats what Thais call people who are in political office SO .........YES.

AS for the 2nd part yes there were additional appointments of brothers, sons, daughters etc of the MP's :example. Chalerms murdering son (alleged)

Are these people replacing former friends of the democratic party who held the same position? Or are these newly created positions and in either case, what kind of salary/perks are they to receive?

As officers of the government, what are their duties and work schedule?

Interesting, just to have a list...

Question, How many POs are there altogether?

Found the wording a little odd, on this one, since the red shirts didn't exist before the coup...

The move to reward so many Red Shirts has the largest contingent of PTP MP's (Issan) upset that their interests (and positions) were not nearly as well rewarded.

Reconciliation?

:cheesy:

Yesss!!! Between the PTP and "red shirt thugs" to keep them quiet and on board the gravy train.

"Jobs for the yobs" you could say. I'm convinced it won't upset the Democrats as they are such an "admirable", worthy and deserving lot who have unselfishly served the country in an all-encompassing way, clearly, that their appointments will be wholeheartedly welcomed by the elitists and will not stir up any controversy!!! MucHHHHH!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Let battle (re)commence!!!

Since, as many posters here would have it, the PTP = Red Shirts, why on earth would they be upset? Surely their interests would be the same! Unless...

Unless it means that the Red Shirts are the voting class of PTP, while the PTP MP's interests represent the ownership class. I think they're just spouting off as they've already been well insulated from wage hikes in their many family businesses. They may even get more business as non Isaan manufacturers will be incurring greater expenses.

Any more distinctions from you between the red shirts and PTP and you will be sent to the back of the class immediately. :D

It will be intersting to see how the current alliance in PTP develops. I would guess they will remain togather while they have a common enemy/common cause. If however say Thaksin returns with cases falling that would signify victory over the old BKK elite and then the alliance may well become very shaky. The democrats will also likely either have to have been reformed at this point or face becoming increasinlgy marginalized. One way or another Thailand is headed for (mostly) class based 2-3 party system. It is at this point though hard to see exactly how it will end finalized

The equation might be changed to does not equal if and when something more definitive than some transient verbal squabbling over cushy jobs transpires.

Family members can often bicker over the size of dessert pie slices... doesn't mean they disown each other. At the end of the day they remain united.

Their relationship is not so dissimilar to that of Sinn Fein and their military wing the IRA except the red shirts (on a whole are not essentially a para-military faction) - apart from those "mysterious gunmen in black", perhaps.
