I am aware that the little face icon changes when that person is watching you, but how are you alerted that someone is now watching you (you cannot scan hundreds of faces continually).

What you say does not appear to be true. Sometimes when I click on a user and start to watch, within seconds they are watching me. They are somehow alerted that I am watching them!

Probably hijacking the keyboard activity of the other party and inferring it is specific to Camfrog. For example, yahoo messenger, skype, etc., has the "xxx is typing" prompt when you have a chat line open with xxx but it doesn't mean they are typing a message to you. Other chat programs show a keyboard or other symbol that infers they are typing to you where they could just as easily be chatting on msn with someone else or surfing the net or typing a letter.

Not an easy task if you don't have the pro version, but I 'get around it' by watching the upload speed meter I have installed on my desktop (in my case a Win7 sidebar gadget). It will climb to 10-15 kbs.

In Camfrog you can change the setting in a way, that people who are watching you are always on top of the list; so they do not only change color, they also move to the top of the list of participants in a room.

People who are watched by you, are in a separate list anyway.
