I know this is a late question, but I'm leaving Kanchanaburi today heading south. We're gonna stop in Damnoen Saduak for the markets in the morning. Can anyone suggest sonewhere to stay in the vicinity?

What I'm most looking for is a comfy place to sleep and hopefully have a good bar with some soft music nearby.

If anyone can suggest something that fits that bill, please let me know

Ok I've just realised how stupid my question might have been. I've just been thru trip advisor and had a laugh. What would be the next best place to stay at? It doesnt matter if it's south (I'm coming from the north), just something, somewhere reasonably close

There was an acceptable hotel when I was there last, 3 or 4 yrs. ago. I have forgotten the name of it. From the northwest bridge abutment, turn left (west) at the UOB bank. Walk down to the end of that street, it is the last building on the right. If you want to be there for the morning floating market, and don't have your own transportation, and don't want to get up in the middle of the night to go from Bangkok on a commercial tour, the only practical alternative is to arrive there the night before.

Thanks Allane...

Well, this afternoon has seen a turn of events. We chose to stay in Ratchanburi, but since we didn't have a good map and google likes to play games with maps we decided to do a dry run there - we have a car.

We got onto a road that had signs the whole way (except for one turn which could have been better signed) and once we got here we were surprised.

I don't know what all the rubbish reviews on trip advisor are about, this place is thriving! Bl00dy tourists. So we started just driving around and found a resort (per chance) right at the start of the floating markets.

Maikaew Damnoen Resort.

Look, it's a little pricey, but it has it's own longboat port straight to the river. No BS prices (400B for the pair of us - could have probably saved myself the price of a beer if I'd looked around... Whatever, it's literally RIGHT at our front door!).

The menu here is great and VERY well priced for a resort, I'd honestly say for a resort it's too cheap, ie the food - I'll rate it on trip advisor when we're done and paste a link here.
