Ed Visa With 2 Entries (90X2) "Non Extendable" Question

Featured Replies

Hello there, I am sorry for posting yet another visa thread.. But i have been reading, calling and asking veterans and co-workers with no clear answer (!) so i was hoping that someone here knew something or have experienced it themselves.

My name is Dennis and I am currently doing an internship at a hotel in Koh Samui since the 1st of July (arrived in Thailand 16th of June). I have a Non-immigrant visa type "ED" with two entries. I also have Work Permit.

My first part expires the 13th of September, so I am planning on going to Malaysia to visit a friend and then come back the day after (like a visa run),-- which means that my second entry will be activated and it will expire the 12th of December. So my question to you is, is it possible for me to extend my visa 7-days at a immigrations office as my flight to Sweden is the 20th of December? If not; Can I leave the country, to go to Cambodia for a few days vacation and then re-enter Thailand by car - to go to the airport? In my passport, on the page with the "ED" visa it says "NON EXTENDABLE" or something similar (i don't have the passport next to me right now)..

Immigration Office in Koh Samui has been closed when I have been there to ask this question.

All help would be very appreciated so thank you very much for your time, as i wrote in the beginning, I have read/calling/asking a lot about this issue (i've also read the new rules about 90-days reporting etc..) on the internet/phone but I want to be sure as I do not wan't 'overstay'.

Yours Sincerely,

Dennis

Yes they will allow 7 days if you have proof of flight out and pay the normal 1,900 baht TM.7 fee. There will not be any need for 90 day reporting as you are leaving and returning for a new 90 day stay. You could also go out at the end of 90 days and return if from a visa exempt country for a 15 day entry and then fly out.

Woah. That was simple. Thank you very much. You are saying "...return if from a visa exempt country for 15 day entry" - the visa exempt country as my home country or the country that i cross from? (Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia etc?)

Many thanks!

Your home country - as you did not mention it we can not know if you are allowed visa exempt entry or not.

Ok. Thank you again. I did mention Sweden, but never that it is my home country. Sorry for that :)

OK will be a 15 day stay in that case for a visa exempt entry by land.
