November 4, 200520 yr Hi this is the first time I am writting in this forum although i´ve been reading many of your topics and i think that ithey are very interesting.Anyway I have been travelling around thailand for a few years now and i am planning to move over there in a near future. Two years ago I made the mistake of falling in love with one of these beach boys.Nothing happen the first year I meet him i though he was very sweet and special so the following year i went to see if everything ws true however the second time I meet him he wasn´t as nice as the first time. Something happen but because he treat me so badly I left the place because all my ilusions were broken . Later on he tell my friend thet he was still interested on me. What is wrong with this people? why they treat girls in that way? are the not fed up of being with different girls any other week? do they not think that sometimes they can cause pain with their lies? I am very confuse about this. I do not like to think ill about people but I sometimes think that i am very naive and those boys are just having the time of their lifes with farang before they get married.

November 5, 200520 yr Author well after your replies and little bit of thinking and alcohol ( i went to have a drink with my friends) I think you are right this is getting no-where but what is happening to me and is really dangerous is my way of thinking when I am a little bit down like " I did that or I said that so that made me such and such... especial at the end of the day " and even though I know I am not realistic I created so many dreams about this guy ( something that I know that is not real) that I am tourtoring myself. I don´t want any advice I know what i have to do and that is what i will do at the end but i just need to write it so i know that my thoughs are real I am out of my mind......
November 5, 200520 yr i have known several beach boys in my day (that's not "known" in the biblical sense now kiddies), but i think there are two sides to every story. on the one hand, beach boys have a pretty ideal life- living in a beautiful place, parties every night, gorgeous women from all over the world throwing themselves at them. if i were a thai male i think i would want to be a beach boy too! it will always be hard to take a boy out of that atmosphere and i don't recommend trying. but on the other hand, once they start getting older most of these boys really would like a long term girlfriend to make a life with, and they want to get out of the bar scene and start doing something for themselves. thai girls don't want them and they are more comfortable with farangs at that point, so they start looking for a girl who will stay. problem is, very rarely will a girl stay for more than 3-6 months, and despite all romantic promises, they are forgotten as soon as the girl returns home. so the guy will move on to the next one! of course! another problem is that the boy will expect the girl to help him get set up, get him a visa to her country, etc... i do believe these guys are capable of long term relationships but they would not be easy relationships by any means. you can take the boy out of the bar but not the bar out of the boy. and most women are going to have a problem with supporting their boyfriend to the extent that you would have to. not to mention diseases and alcoholism and bad contacts made in the bar that will follow them into their new life. i suggest staying away personally. maybe fun for a night but don't take them seriously in general.

I mean this is like a vice cicle( and I do not want to save anyone from their way of living) but what i wonder do they not get sick of it. Ok you can take a boy from the bar but not the bar from the boy but... this means from the rest of their lives... if that´s so i do not want to be a beach boy EVER!!!
November 5, 200520 yr yes i think they are lost forever. like i said there might be the chance for a long term relationship, if you want to support them. but they love their lives at the bar and will always miss it/return to it. meaning they will most likely cheat and drink a lot at times. though i know some great bar boys who are educated and insightful, they are a rarity. they are not the most upstanding of guys in general. and once they get around other guys it becomes a predatory circle where women are simply sexual objects and/or ATM machines and will get little respect otherwise. better to meet a nice student with some understanding of your culture outside the bar scene.
