PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least six people were killed on Tuesday when a group of gunmen attacked a school van in northwestern Pakistan, local media reported.

According to reports, the attack occurred on the outskirts of Peshawar near a place called Matni Bazar in Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, when a group of gunmen opened fire against a school transportation vehicle, sources told the Nation.

At least six people were killed in the attack, including five children and the driver of the van, which belonged to a private English-speaking school. The child victims are said to be all younger than 14 years old. In addition, 16 others were wounded, including 12 children, two teachers, and two pedestrians.

It was not immediately known which group was behind the attack, but similar attacks against buses and trains have taken place in recent weeks. No group has claimed responsibility.

Sad ! How low and disgusting can these Islamist extremists get !

Seems like Pakistan is losing the fight against extremism !

So...where is the outcry from Muslim leaders for such incidents ? What is Erdogan of Turkey saying on this incident, for instance ? Oh, wait....he is busy with his anti-Semitic speeches.

Sadly some deaths are more newsworthy than others. I don't know for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if the children were girls as the Taleban disapprove of education for females. You are right about the complete lack of condemnation from the Muslim world over .

Good point. This 'newsworthiness' issue is actually something that should have been discussed by, for example, the world's media since long time ago ! 5 Pakistani children get killed by terrorists and it barely gets a mention worldwide. If, for example, five Belgian children get killed by terrorists, it would be 'breaking news' on CNN......and would get a lot of media time afterwards for days.

Same for accidents....a train accident occurs in India for example, killing a large number of people and we get around maybe 20 seconds of news on it on BBC. But an accident in Italy causing far fewer deaths gets A LOT more news time.

Anyway...sorry for being off-topic.....this is something that really annoys and saddens me !
