Thai Passeport

Featured Replies

Hello,

My ehglish is not very good so I hope you will forgive me my mistakes...

I was born in Thailande and my mother get married with a swiss guy. I don't know my real father...

My swiss father adopted me and now I have a swiss passeport but i want to go back live in thailand. Is it possible to have 2 passeports and how can I do because I don't speak thai and there are some documents missing.

I have only my birth certificate and my mom have my thai passeport. Is it possible to do with ?

Thank you for your answer

You probably are still Thai. You simply need your birth certificate to show that you are Thai and can apply for a Thai passport. If the passport you have is indeed yours, you can use it to apply for new passport, but contact the Thai embassy first. Some now require you to be registered on a household registration.

Your Thai passport can officially still be used to travel and enter Thailand.

really ? only my birth certificate ? :)

Your birth certificate shows that you are Thai. it lists your parents, from whom you got your Thai nationality, and states your nationality. You even claim to have a Thai passprot already, although old. So there is no doubt you have Thai nationality.

Now, you have been adopted but that seems not to have had your Thai nationality cancelled, as you still have your Thai passport. (Even if it had, reclaiming Thai nationality would be relatively easy).

Just contact the Thai embassy and see which documents they require to get a new Thai passport. You might need to show them that you are the person on the birth certificate, with the help of the adoption papers, your Swiss ID and maybe your mother confirming you are her child.

You might run into the problem that you need to be on a household register, some embassies seem now to require that. But check first with the embassy what you need.

OP you should have no problems getting a Thai passport. My kids are born in Australia and were issued with Thai birth certificates. You may have to apply for an ID card first, as I don't know your age and as Mario says a house book may be require in your home country. Be a bit careful as the call up, conscription for the army is still here. Not everyone has to go, but your name may appear on the list. Jim

Dear Boubou,

You will have no trouble getting your Thai citizen (ID and Passport) with your birth certificate. If you do not speak Thai, no problem, take your mother to a nice trip to Thailand, or hire a translator. And everything will be fine.

Cheers.
