Calling And Sending Money The Cheap Way From Uk

Featured Replies

When I was in the UK i spent weeks looking for a way to call my wife in Thailand, as I only use Pay as You Go it was driving me crazy the price of what vodafone was charging, even getting a call card that I could use on my mobile and get a local rate, the cost of a local rate on a PAYG (21p a min) was just crazy. I found at the Carphoneware House a sim card from Lebara. As all carphoneware house phones are unlocked (good to use Thai sim!) i got a new phone and sim.

The Rate is 1p a min to Thai land line and 6p a min to Thai mobile, and the sms and uk calles are a lot cheeper than vodaphone/02/Orange ect, I think only 8 p a min to uk mobiles.

another good thing, there websight is nice and easy to use and has a call list that is easy to print out, good for keeping record of the calls to ur Mussus for a visa!!

2nd super grate offer thay give is a Mastercard,

Its a prepay card, u get one she gets one. I was putting money on it at the postoffice for 1 pound up to 400 pound at a time and all you have to do is call the card and tell them how much you want to put on ur second card. My second card has my wifes name on it, there was no need for her to send any paperwork or do anything for me to get a card with her name. when I recived the 2 cards I just put her's in the post and sent it to her. When you put the money on her card its instant and with no charge, the only charge is the 150bart that the thai ATM's take,

So much better than western union or a bank transfer. And it can be used like a normal mastercard online or in the shops.

Ive been very happy to find Lebara and hope this info is good for some others too :)
