a language question but maybe should be in the buddhist area

can someone write out or get from somewhere in the net the sentences said when honoring the Buddha... i have the english and the transliterated pali, but would like it in thai text anc cant read thai so cant search thai sites.... have been doing well so far with guestimating from a thai/slightly english site but want this printed out...

The conventional spelling is:

นโม ตสส ภควโต อรหโต สมมาสมพุทธสส

พุทธํ สรณํ คจฉามิ

ธมมํ สรณํ คจฉามิ

สํฆํ สรณํ คจฉามิ

There's a very different spelling convention in which it is written:

นะโม ตัสสะ ภะคะวะโต อะระหะโต สัมมา สัมพุทธัสสะ

พุทธัง สะระณัง คัจฉามิ

ธัมมัง สะระณัง คัจฉามิ

สังฆัง สะระณัง คัจฉามิ

The pronunciation is identical.

i thought this was that -above-- ?? than if so why not the same (one of the problems of plowing thru a site in a language i cant really read... )

Using the Harvard-Kyoto transliteration for ASCII convenience

iminA sakkArena buddhaM/dhammaM/saGghaM pUjemi

The spelling of the first verse should be:

'Phonetic (what is it really called?)':

อิมินา สักกาเรนะ พุทธัง ปูเชมิ

Traditional:

อิมินา สกฺกาเรน พุทฺธํ ปูเชมิ

The phrases also occur with 'abhipUjayAmi' ( อะภิปูชะยามิ / อภิปูชยามิ) for 'pUjemi', which merely intensifes the verb. The verb means 'to honour, respect, worship, revere' (source: Pali Text Society's Pai-English Dictionary. inimA sakkArena is the instrumental singular of ayaM sakkAra (I hope I have the citation form correct.). ayaM = 'this'. sakkAra = 'hospitality, honour, worship'.

The translation is fairly idiomatic - e.g. 'I pay homage to the Buddha with these offerings', or a clumsier 'I pay homage to the Buddha with this worshipping thing'.

Incidentally, I left some spelling mistakes in in the conventional spelling before. It should read:

นโม ตสฺส ภควโต อรหโต สมฺมาสมฺพุทธสฺส

พุทฺธํ สรณํ คจฺฉามิ

ธมฺมํ สรณํ คจฺฉามิ

สํฆํ สรณํ คจฺฉามิ

I had left the phinthus out!
