Prachinburi Plans to Make Flood-hit Areas Tourist Attractions

The local administration and many businesses in Prachinburi are planing to turn some flood-ravaged areas in the province into destinations for ecotourism.

Under support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand , the Prachinburi Provincial Administration and Prachinburi Tourism Business Association, a new ecotourism bicycle route has been opened.

The route runs from E-to Mountain to the Khao Wa En Air Sports Center in Si Maha Phot District, which is a well-known training facility for skydiving, paramotoring and paragliding.

The route starts from E-to Mountain, known among bicyclists as “Mecca of Cycling.”

It is located near Bangkok and a round trip from the capital takes only a day ride.

There are many mountain-biking routes, ranging from asphalt roads, jungle, single tracks to the popular one to Khao E-to Falls with many breathtaking view points along the way.

President of Prachinburi Tourism Business Association, Poonpol Paethong, said there is a large variety of tourist attractions on land, in water or up in the air.

Tourists can choose to take part in any of these activities safely.

Moreover, Prachinburi has other exciting adventures, such as whitewater rafting at Kaeng Hin Poeng rapids in Na Dee District.

It is open from July to October every year.

I was thinking more of a Makro style water market. You could take a little tug boat down each island and finally to the dock where you could pay. I would call it BangAtlantisburi!

Personally I'd like to visit the scenes of other disasters where people have lost their lives, homes and livlihoods. Holidays are meant to cheer people up and help them relax. Who wants to go bungy jumping when you can revisit the place where 136 were drowned?

I'm surprised the Thais haven't started Tsunami tours for foreigners to show where the foreigners were drowned and the bloated corpses recovered. We all like riding on a banana boat. Imagine a plastic replica of a bloated corpse being towed behind a speed boat with 6 Swedes hanging on and having a good laugh.

Afterall, the Japanese seem to have a great time when visiting Kanchanaburi and the Death Railway where old Uncle Akito was posted during the war. it must be very pleasing to remember the misery, suffering and cruelty of war. The good old days when you could lock a man in hole all day and beat him with bamboo.

Yes it must be that .

I live in the area and i would just be more happy if they could make works/mantain what is already in place, for istance, you go to a national park advertising on the map, restaurants, coffee shops, pleanty of food and other things all around, and as soon as you have paid your tickets to get entry (full price) you discover that there is nobody working there and it's all shut down, obviously the guard selling the tickets could not bother with informing visitors and the people inside don't really want to be bothered with questions, they just live there and care only for their own business, not tourists or the job they are supposed to do.

The roads are veeery dangerous, one day they are fine and the following day you see either craters or little mountains the size of a full grown buffalo appearing just like that, then there is this hype when talking with the locals, they are so sure these ricefields are the next tourist attraction after the more famous ones....they did even try to sell me a few hotspots, one of which just made it to the news recently with 40 or so illegal resorts, so glad now i didn't invest on them, but without a proper land title was no way i would trust them.

Really it's like a circus here, every now and then you see someone bringing up some stuff exactly like that, but who knows? maybe they will find some investors among us too?
