Thailand To Become A Hub For International Education

Special report: Thailand to become a hub for international education

With the integration of ten ASEAN member countries as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, Thailand is gearing up in every possible way to take full advantage of the merger. Significant emphasis on trade and services has been imminent, but very few would have thought that international education in Thailand was among the contributors to the economy.

Thailand is the only country in the world with the largest number of international schools. The trend has taken a new turn in the past decade when expat communities began to grow and Thai nationals were allowed to be enrolled in these schools.

The number of international schools has risen quickly following the economic boom in Thailand. This indicates that while the number of enrollment is increasing, the economy could not be worse than it looked.

According to the International School Association of Thailand (ISAT), a few of the best international schools in this region are in Thailand. International schools have gained trust among Thai parents and foreign investors who send their children to these schools in Thailand.

Almost all of the foreign-based and international curriculum schools in Thailand have been internationally recognized and students who graduated from these schools went on to higher education at famous universities around the world.

International schools in Thailand follow the curriculum from the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Australia, Singapore, France, India and the international baccalaureate program.

All of which also offer a second language class in many languages. The coming AEC has prompted Thailand to gear up to become an international hub of education in the ASEAN region.

According to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Thailand remains attractive to investors, if that is the case the integration of the ASEAN nations will make it easier for foreign investors who are raising their families to consider Thailand their second home where the cost of living is relatively reasonable and international education is second to none.

Can we start with a national hub of education first? Starting with journalists?

Prime Minister Yingluck said "(Thailand's) international education is second to none".

a few of the best international schools in this region are in Thailand.

The few other "best international schools" are in other countries ... in this region.

It's obvious that a few of the Thai news reporters didn't go to these international schools, or if they did, English wasn't included as one of the many international languages offered.

Hubba Hubba!

:guitar:

Now I understand why Thailand has a Ministry for Mental Health. Thailand - the hub of self delusion.

Sacred Heart is one of those international schools isn't it? Perhaps the PM will attend the next Nazi dress up day and share her thoughts about Thai excellence in education. She should know better as she pursued her education outside of Thailand.

Unfortunately one of the biggest ball aches for students at international schools is the 90 day reporting which they need to do with their parents, missing a day off school etc. etc. If Thailand is serious it MUST overhaul is visa system which is dated, antiquated and just plain shit

And yet another hub? Have they no shame?

header should read

Thailand WANTS to become a hub for international education.

Fact is that LAOS in the north east is far more likely to become the hub from neighboring Thailand educational prospects than vice versa.

Our children's dependent status hold us back from sending them to Vientiane.

for sure when they can require a PM visa in Laos (permanent Resident)expected to be legally finalized the end of this year...and carefully monitoring the development in Thakek (new bridge arrival)of international schools we choose for Laos.

You can add "smart" to that list. The other day I saw a sign that read "smart wood". Smart tv, smart houses, smart this, smart that, smart cab on pick up trucks. If everything in the country is so da_n smart, how come there are so many dumb-asses? Especially driving around in those smart cabs. I guess the cabs are smart compared to many of the drivers in them.

Thailand is the hub of nonsense.

However, wouldn't the joke be on us if they only release these hub stories to ThaiVisa and wait for all the criticism and jokes? The HUB of WIND-UPS. LOL, just a thought.

Thailand going mad. This is the biggest joke I've heard in a long time. Glad we have made the decision to move back to the West so our kids can get proper (and totally free!) education. They learn to think for themselves ;-)
