A friend of mine chatted with a guy for less than a week and this is what he wrote. I don't think it is right to tell a lie to get laid or lead people on. This guy is no better than a bar girl that takes a guy for a ride.

Why lie to a girl? You can be anybody, but you don't have to lie to get laid here. It is Thailand and you should be able to get all the sex you want. It is just wrong for a bar girl to cheat someone like a farang who lies and get a girl to think he is in it for a long haul. A couple of buddies here also believe to tell their wives or girlfriends that they want more spice in life and it works out.

This is far from unlikely from what I have seen in Thailand. He could be a BS artist or he could have finally gotten laid.

Hey! I got an email from that guy the other week.

Only in that one he was called the Very Reverend Obuto Banana and he was telling me about some money his dead uncle had deposited in a Nigerian bank.

Surprised he doesn't just withdraw it and use it for this business venture with the Thai GF.

And all that aside, Thailand is absolutely full of liars and thieves of all nationalities, and most of them have something to do with real estate at some point in their downhill careers. The only thing anyone needs to know is: steer clear of the lot of them.

I'm surprised only one person here seems to have gotten it. First of all, this isn't a farang. It's a Nigerian, or citizen of some nearby African state. The writing style is a dead giveaway, especially combined with the substance of the letter. I personally know two middle-aged Thai ladies here who almost took the bait. Anyhow howzabout change the topic from "farangs who lie" to "Nigerian scams." There are a number of different types. One, like this, preys on lonely hearts. Another phishes somebody's e-mail and sends requests for emergency funds to that person's online contacts. Yet another claims to have funds that they can't disburse without your co-signature, for which they'll pay you some outrageous amount of money, they say, then they ask you for bank account numbers. Apparently these scams do generate some funds for somebody, or they wouldn't keep happening.

As for "farangs that lie," I assure you that you lie. I lie. Everyone in the world lies, Thais, Russians, even Bantu Pygmies. We all have reasons for lying, some good, some bad. To say "I don't like people who lie" is to say "I don't like people." But I certainly wouldn't lie in the nasty way these creeps do it, and I hope you wouldn't, either.

Thanks for that connection. I have a lot of fun with all telephone salesmen. Because I am retired I can spend the time stringing them along with all sorts of stories... Some of which are even true. It' s no different than with real people in bars or religious fanatics who come knocking on my door. When you really don't care what people think then it is like utopia and you have the power over everyone. I always walk around with a smile on my face and I'm willing to talk to anyone without getting involved. Absolutely nothing bothers me and I can't be conned into anything unless I really feel like it just for a bit of excitement..

On telling lies in Thailand; maybe we learn that it's a necessity for living here? A Thai lady once told me that sometimes it's better to lie. When I asked why she told me because the "in this country the truth could get you killed" lol.

I remember bumping into this bloke in BKK once who was going on about his Olympic judo medals. I spotted him as a typical BS artist and called his bluff.

"Ha ha, ill show this clown up" i chuckled to myself.

It was only when i woke up in hospital a few hours later that i realized he was Brian Jacks....
