The Democrat MP obviosuly forgot to point out that even after 2 months of attack dog mentality by the Dems, their media mates and their establishment handlers and mass floods that Yinglucks popularity as PM (in the high 30s to low 40s in most categories) still remianed well ahead of the popularity of Abhisit (in the teens in most categories and usually the low ones when PM according to the most recent poll. It doesnt help if your opponents popualrity is low if your own is far lower

Yes, hammered. And the two most important words you mentioned are, "2 months"... The short time this administration has been in office but barreling along on the fast track to try and clean up the mess left for the past 3 years... And the country's coffers??? A completely other side-subject that should be have new thread, "Where did all the money go???"

Do you genuinely believe the PTP plan to cut taxes and increase handouts is going to improve the budget situation? If not, why cheerlead for them on this issue?

Why not let's say we sit back and do a critique of the flood mitigation (which has been left on the shelf WAY too long) efforts before the other issues are tackled. And an overall critique at the 6 month mark. Fair? As I stated, it's only been 2 months.

Surely better to cut the cancer out with quick diagnosis rather than letting it get established and terminal. No?

Opposition Leader Hits Back at Pheu Thai Spokesman

The Opposition leader asks the Pheu Thai Party spokesperson to stop escalating the political conflict, and advises the Department of Special Investigation director general to work fairly and transparently.

Pheu Thai Party spokesperson Prompong Nopparit has claimed that there are attempts to overthrow the government via a nine-step plan.

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva commented that this may be an effort by Pheu Thai to cover up the fact that it has failed to resolve the flood crisis and overpriced products.

He said this may escalate the political conflict in the country.

Asked about the Department of Special Investigation, or DSI, Director General Tarit Pengdit's reconsideration of terrorism charges against red-shirt members to lesser charges, the Democrat leader noted that the government should clarify the issue.

He said he has no problem if this is a proposal from the fact-finding panel for reconciliation but noted that authorities might be prosecuted if the action was later found to have been against the law.

Abhisit added that he hopes to see the DSI director general abide by the law.

The present government seems quite adapt at stepping on their own personal organs. To try to throw blame on any outside group for their failures, priorities, lack of action, etc is kind of like bringing a wet blanket to a forest fire.

The spectators/persons involved, see the dog and pony show for what it is, as seemly do some of their own supporters. As many of the Thai electorate are saying, it is time to either stay with the old way or be a governing body "of the people, by the people, for the people". The former was not accepted in the past and any attempt to revert back to the good old days will probably result in a situation which the present powers that be, will be hopeless at handling.

The world, she is changing, we may not agree with the methods used by various fractions, but all sides need to recognize that suggestions, questions, and proposed solutions will have to be addressed. I just hope that some maturity will finally raise to the top of the bucket of sh.t that seems to be the preferred playground.

Are the naive Thai populus falling for the "plot to overthrow" distraction from its weak leadership and inability to deal with the country's problems?

Umm I think so, normally "once bitten twice shy" would apply but T.I.T and a certain mentality comes in to play in this neck of south east aisa

First Ms. Yingluck's email and twitter account get hacked, following Ms. Yingluck's nephew Pantongtae tweets about "people with ill intentions against the country ..." and barely one or two hours later our well known (very informed) Pheu Thai Party Spokesperson Prompong Nopparit said to have been told about movements to topple the Yingluck government.

I'm not one for government conspiracy theories, but either that or it was really a slow Sunday?

Anything to get sympathy from the public? "don't blame us, blame them"? More will follow as soon as we have make-up more details?

What will come first: the name of the iPhone user who allegedly hacked the accounts, or pigs will start to fly around whistling :ermm:?

Democrat: No one tries to topple Pheu Thai if they work with honesty

BANGKOK, 3 October 2011 (NNT)-The Democrat Party has confirmed nobody is trying to topple the government as long as it runs the country with honesty and justice.

Pheu Thai has recently revealed 9 excuses anybody would use to discredit the government. They consist of the lack of leadership of the Prime Minister, the swift replacements of civil servants, the failed promises on Pheu Thai’s policies, the negligence in law enforcement allowing Red Shirt demonstrators to use mob’s rules, the lack of commitment on cracking down lese majeste websites, an intervention in the justice system to help Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra and his family, the inability to fix economic issues, the inefficiency to solve flood problems, the indifference to the corruption of the flood money and the attempt to amend the 2007 constitution to give Mr. Thaksin a clean slate.

Deputy Democrat Spokesperson Mr. Sakoltee Phattiyakul said that any attempt to overthrow the government with the aforementioned reasons is unfounded. The government will never be toppled if they work with transparency and fairness.

Has there been a suggestion that it's gone?

What have the PTP done to clean up any mess? They haven't done anything, let alone cleaning up previous messes.

Here's a drop in the bucket...

Seems like they are trying to justify an imminent curtail of free speech. Claim that criticism of the government is the first step of a conspiracy to overthrow the government (through undemocratic means we presume), therefore extreme measures are needed to counteract this extreme threat.

It also plays well to keep their base fired up, a simple "Coup of the Month" scare cry may have been blunted by its continuous use during the past two or three years, they need something new, more sexy to keep the people on edge.

The anti PT media, does that include TV Read the full story here good reading

Thanks for the link.

I like the names & titles of contributors.

"By Pooky, Thai Intel’s economics journalist"

"By Tammy, Thai Intel’s humanity journalist"

"By Ranger, Thai Intel’s political journalist"

Mind you lots of the articles on Thailand seem a bit lopsided. Anti previous govt and k. Abhisit and the 'journalist' style far from objective, more like "don't you think so too?" and worse.

No idea who runs this blog-like show, can't find it

Pheu Thai Party Spokesperson Prompong Nopparit said that security agencies are reporting that there have been movements by political groups and former power holders, who are planning to topple the Yingluck Shinawatra administration.

Actually, I can think of one former power holder who very much wants to get back into his old job... Wonder if he's behind the whole grand scheme....

Off course, he is behind every move that is being made. His tactics have been extraordinary - played out over a two or more year period. Building confidence in the Red Villages, attacking Bangkok, shifting the blame for the deaths to the incumbent Government of the time and so on and so on. You can bet your bottom dollar that there are some very big intellectual and manipulative forces behind all of this. The exile doesn't have the intelligence to go that deep with strategy.

If you have two Visa IDs running from 1 computer the mods don't like it however genuine the two separate ids are. I got into big trouble for that when my erstwhile partner was posting away and supporting some of my controversial (and silly) stuff.

If you feel that you are unfairly treated by this government, you can always take your case to the newly appointed Ombudsman, Mr Pravich.

Mr Pravich was science and technology minister in the Thaksin Shinawatra government. :ermm:

In two months they have fast tracked weaseling out of their election promises. They have been fast tracking the return of Thaksin. Are you suggesting they should be given another six months to help the flood victims.

Perhaps if they would try to live up to their election promises they would in fact be cleaning up some of the previous problems. That includes problems all the way back to Thaksin.

One step at a time... these devastating floods are the worst (if you total up the whole of Thailand's floods these past 30-40 days) ever seen or recorded. Why don't we just step back a while and see how the current government handles this disaster, then you all can slag as much as you want... BTW - there are present problems that can be linked back to the 30's when total rule by monarchy was changed. As well as quite a few other issues since then... some solved, some not.

Don't really care if hey are the worst in history. They can not be dealt with later. They require prompt action.

Just last week the Government set aside supplies for one area to be delivered when Yingluck visited.

I call that complete indifference to the people.

Using a disaster to make her look good.

Perhaps it is because

"his relatively objective observations"

All condemn the Dems and offer no negativity for the PT.

Sounds to me like he is just another Thaksin devotee willing to follow him no matter what he says or does.

When that site says 'intelligent news' it comes of as pure irony - but it is clearly lacking either of it.

But I am sure you are happy to provide your bitter friend with some more traffic by linking to it.

Oh dear, talk about paranoia.

On the other hand:

"Moreover, it will spread rumors that the Pheu Thai-led government is trying to help fugitive former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra."

Rumors? Hardly.

If there is a Democrat led conspiracy to spread these sorts of rumours they should stop immediately. It is totally unnecessary.
