Non-B 1 Yr Extn. Based On Marriage Possible?

Featured Replies

I have a 1 year multi-entry non-im B visa.

Q. Can I obtain a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai National, or MUST the "non-B" be converted to a "non-O" first?

If a conversion is required could someone please advise the procedure and time implications.

Also, does an "under consideration" stamp mean I wouldn't have to leave the country for a scheduled visa run that fell due during the "under consideration" period?

Thanks.

Yes you can extend if you meet the marriage and financial conditions for such.

Yes the under consideration stamp is your permitted to stay for that period of time.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.

OR.

Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Registry entry.

Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.

Your Passport.

Copies of everything.

Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.

A map showing the way to your house.

Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.

Take your Wife to be interviewed.

You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.

Go back in a month and get the remainder.

Thanks Lopburi, thanks Lite Beer

That's good news Lopburi!

The wife's actually just got back from the local immigration office (outside of Bangkok) to preliminarily check on the correct paperwork for getting me a 1 year extension of stay based on our recent Marriage.

She took the following with her for checking: (two copies of everything required incidentally)

1. Application form T.M. 7 with one photograph size 5x6 cm.

2. Copy of UK marriage Certificate Plus translation

3. Copy Kor Ror 2 from amphur office (not older than six months)

4. Wife's child's birth certificate

5. Copy wife's house registration

6. Copy wife's identity card

7. Copy of my passport, with non-Im B visa, 90 day entry stamp & TM6 arrival card.

8. Map to residency

9. Picture of house and family, in house and outside showing house number.

9. Copy of work permit.

10. Copy of 3 month's pay slips with tax receipts showing annual salary of 600,000 baht, as supplied each month by company's accountants/book-keepers.

I need to go the 400,000+ baht annual salary route.

The immigration office told my wife that we need to supply official verification of pay, stamped by "head office" in the province. (What form would that be and would it have to go to/come from the main labour dept or tax office???)

Also, immigration said they would need ORIGINALS of my employer's company papers. Everything in the application would go to the Bangkok head office for approval who would KEEP the ORIGINALS of the company papers!

The company accountants also confirmed that this would be the case. They also offered to get the "stamped" salary papers (or whatever it is immigration wants) for a fee of 5,000 baht :bah:

Something seems seriously wrong here, can anyone please advise?

Believe by originals they mean copies the company provide with there original signatures rather then the copies of documents you make with your signature. As for the 5k charge it is your company so hard for us to explain - accountants value there time?

If you wish to use the 400k (probably easier if you can get the funds into bank) you can easily obtain a 60 day extension of your current permitted to stay so that would allow the required time in account for application. Be sure account is in your name only.

Ahhh, OK, I'll try them with signed and stamped copies of the company papers and see how we get on.

After trawling TV a lot deeper, I gather that my PND.91 (giving my last year's salary) plus my latest PND.1 (giving last month's wage) give the income information immigration are looking for.

The unknown (until I visit immigration) but what previous posters seem to infer, is that the receipt for my tax payments issued by the revenue dept. SHOULD be the proof of originality and verification that immigration need.

If these original revenue receipts are NOT good enough for them, then I will need to take several deep breaths before politely leaving immigration and embarking on the 200km round trip to get a "stamp" from the nearest revenue dept.

I converted from a multiple non-B to extension of stay based on marriage four years ago.
