Rimmer Posted October 7, 2011 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Pattaya Deputy Ousted For Supporting Koh Larn Deforestation PATTAYA: -- Locals of Koh Larn island closed the frontage road in Pattaya to drive out Mr. Sutham, Pattaya Deputy for supporting investors deforesting Koh Larn island. Pattaya, October 5, 2011 (PDN) The traffic on the main road of North Pattaya came to a standstill as more than 700 Koh Larn locals came to protest and drive out Mr.Sutham Petkate, Deputy of Pattaya. Mr. Booncherd Boonying, the president of Koh Larn Island Community said that the cause of this protest is Mr.Sutham supporting a group of investers who want to cut down the trees on an area of more than 320 rais on Koh Larn island. They were not aware that Pattaya City Hall had supported this action. Every year the islanders have been planting trees for the Royal Project on Koh Larn.
