I have visited Thailand on numerous occasions and fell in love with the People, The Culture and Lifestyle and also the climate

We will be back in Thailand in the first week of December this year and hopefully will be able to stay this time

I am interested in meeting and making new friends in person and also on this Forum.

So hello everybody!biggrin.gif

Keep your head down for a while as there are those that like to knock it off... even if you say something sensible. And, above everything else... read the rules and understand them... and never, never, never break them. Otherwise you will get along fine. Just don't take anything anyone says too seriously... including myself. Other than that... welcome.

ps the rosey coloured spectacles you will wear when first living in Thailand will come off pretty quickly....:D

I don't think so. I think mine were surgically implanted. After 15 years I STILL see that rosey tint. But then I don't spend what I can't afford to lose. A police bribe for a motor vehicle offense in Thailand is cheaper by far than a parking ticket in Canada.

why farang men who are married to thai wives and brought them back home always end up relocating back to Thailand after some time, and then permanently , semi permanent......

Answer is simple... wife not happy = husband not happy. I'm not saying that is the case here, though. It often takes some sorting out where to make a home that suits everyone. Living with someone is always a compromise. That is why I stay single... I'm selfish.

Considering that I am the most intelligent Thai visa member (I have references from the Mods), my advice is, don`t jump the gun.

Believe me there is a world of difference between visiting or holidaying in Thailand then living here permanently.

You may also find that as for making friends, the pockets of ex-pats spread over the country are not that friendly or welcoming.

Before you pack up completely in the land where they breed sheep with kangaroos for the production of woolly jumpers, try Thailand out first, for perhaps a year to see how you get on and to decide if Thailand is for you.

Thailand. It can take a considerable time to decide whether you love it or hate it.

Real life in LOS is not for everyone.

Don't burn your bridges until you have tried it for at least 5 years.

Even then, think again.

Its because the police ask less questions here when the farang husband commits "sucide"....

Jonesy simply go into the News Forum and post something like " Thaksin's conviction was politically motivated and he's innocent", " Aphisit should be charged with murder after the Bangkok protests last year" or " Yingluck is not a proxy for her brother and is doing a pretty good job so far"

There'll be posters lining up to welcome you with their thoughts on your comments. :D

And i think its extra hard if your ending up in some village where you don't have access to western things and your the only foreigners. You will be isolated.

I find it not fair on the husband that many of those wifes who are not happy in the west expect the guy to be happy in a small village and much more isolated then they ever were.

+1 and agree completely. At this stage of my life, my happiness is more important to me that attempting to make someone else happy. After many relationships, I have learned that you cannot make someone happy as happiness comes from within, not from external sources.

Yeah Right!! That would be a really good start for sure!! ( Start a political Fight with the politicians before i even reside there! ) thanks for the advice BUT No Thanks! I have my reasons for wanting to live in Thailand, The main one being is that this country (Australia) is being run by an Idiot!, the cost of living is getting out of hand and unaffordable and I want to ENJOY the rest of my life. As far as rosey glasses go, I do not need them! my vision is perfect and i have a brain! I have visited Thailand and stayed on numerous occasions and I like being there, I like the People and the culture and I married into a really good family. I do not intend to become just another English Teacher No! i have ways of making an income while in Thailand for the next two years until i am get my pension.

Not having a shot personally, but it seems that there are a lot of Farangs on this and other forums that are not happy with what goes on politically in Thailand? All those people need to remember that they are in another country, not necessarily theirs and need to adapt just like I will have to.

You have to take a step back and think about it? If all of these so called Wingeing Farangs dont like being there, or dont like the way things are? Then Why are You All There?

I am a Positive thinking person and would love to make friends with positive thinking people.

There You Go, I have had my say! Nothing Personal......................But that is my Opinion that I am entitled to................................So I hope I have not offended anyone! especially the ex SAS guy

As i am Ex army myself, a two tour conscript.

JONSEY - If Oz is being run by an idiot the alternative (Abbott) is a complete idiot . . . and a very dangerous man . . . I left W.A. with my Thai wife of 12 years in 2008 and moved to Thailand with the intention of me riding out my days there playing golf and socialising ... We visited Thailand for holidays every year leading up to our departure. . . After 12 months my wife had enough and wanted to move back to Oz (Port Macquarie) where we now live. My wife found it very difficult to adjust back into Thai life after living in Australia for so long. . . So it may not be you who finds it hard to adjust but the wife . . . . . .
