Heavy Rains Batter Sattahip – Flash Floods Cause Traffic Jams

SATTAHIP: -- Heavy non-stop downpours lasting four hours were repored on the Eastern Seabord of Sattahip causing flooding in many areas and massive traffic jams on Sukhumvit highway.

Sattahip, October 7, 2011[PDN]; Since Friday afternoon Sattahip area, Chonburi province was battered by continous heavy rains lasting more than four hours and causing a massive traffic jams on Sukhumvit highway, Sattahip-Rayong sector. A five kilometer long traffic jam resulted from the high water level blocking the left lane. This was due to the falling water from the hills and mountains which could not be releases into the sea on time. The officers and staff of the emergency relief agency in Sattahip provided heavy duty water pumps to release the water masses.
