Wait a couple of days until you get back to Bangkok to eat Thai food. I completely agree! There is very good and inexpensive Indian food at well-stocked food stands in Penang. I tried the Malaysian food stands, but found Malaysian food to be quite boring and not with flavour profiles that pleased me. There is also a huge Chinese community on Penang but I don't recall seeing any available on the streets -- only restaurants. As for Thai food, I don't remember seeing any at all.
