Garmin Nuvi 1350

Featured Replies

I have a new Nuvi 1350 that was purchased in Malaysia with Malaysia/Singapore maps installed. What must I do to get this to work in Thailand? Will it work in Thailand? As you might guess I'm not at all familiar with GPS stuff.

Just have a ESRI Thailand Street Map, version 11.1, installed. Junction view probably will not work. Get it sorted at:

ESRI (THAILAND) Co., Ltd. Telematics Department Sathorn Nakorn Tower, 100/38-39, 22nd Floor, North Sathon Road, Silom, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500 Tel: 0-2636-8421, Fax: 0-2266-9944, Customer Care: 0-2266-9948 e-mail: [email protected] Map Update or Device Registration: 0-2266-9945 e-mail: [email protected] N13° 43.380 E100° 31.813 Copyright ©2008 GPSsociety.com

Thanks for the quick reply. What is the "junction view" that you said probably wont work and do you know approximately how much the Thai map will cost?

1. Junction view is a graphic representation of selected highway intersections (turns) in Bangkok. It is not part of the map, but a separate file that requires the Thai OS to view. You have the Sin/Mal OS.

2. Thailand Street Map is usually 2,000 baht for a new installation.

You have other options if ERSI cannot help you.

2000 baht is too expensive for loading Thai Maps

I'm sure the OP would welcome your suggestion where he can get a cheaper, current Thailand map for his Garmin 1350.

long ago I bought a Garmin in Singapore with a Singapore / Malaysia map. I got an ENGLISH version of Thailand Street Map from ESRI.

all hardward functions are working fine, you will enjoy it. there are some funny things with this configuration :

- junction view not available in the English version ( it ONLY avilable for the Thai version ); it is quiet helpful if you drive often inside Bangkok

- some find/search functions not working

- the 'imported' Garmin give you funny English pronunciation of Thai names; for example, you won't able to recognise 'Sukhumvit Road' as that should be in Thai language

having said that, this is the only way to enable a 'non-Thai' Garmin in Thailand.

by the way, save the original Malaysia map in the memory card, just in case.

- some find/search functions not working

If I'm not mistaken it was only with the version 10 map that the find/search function had a problem.
