Swiss Car Rental Shop owner badly beaten in East Pattaya attack

PATTAYA: -- A Swiss resident of Pattaya and his Thai Wife were attacked at a friend’s garage in the early hours of Tuesday. Mr. Martin Rudolf Moeklin aged 49, the owner of a Car Rental Shop on the Sukhumvit Road in Central Pattaya, sustained serious injuries and his wife, Khun Saishon aged 26, was also injured as she attempted to protect her Husband from the attackers. The incident occurred at an auto repair shop on Highway 36 in the Pong area where the pair promised the owner they would take care of the shop owner’s dog while he was away. As the pair arrived, they noticed a pick-up parked on the property and went to investigate. They were confronted by a group of 5 people who appeared to be in the process of removing items from the shop without the owner’s permission. Two of the men, armed with sticks, approached the victims who were attacked. Before they left the men stole 4,000 Baht in cash and credit cards from the injured Mr. Moeklin, who was at this point, lying on the ground in a pool of blood.Khun Saishon claimed Banglamung Police, who were called by her moments after the attack, refused to attend the scene.

The policeman on the phone was waiting for his 5 colleagues to return to the station

that was probably the case, the police here are simply not trained, and why would a lone policeman risk him self to help a ferang out?

as soon as people relise the police arent really police, but money collectors, drug dealers, pimps and protection racket orginsiers ( oh and operators of casino's ) you arent really that shocked with reports like this

also to note, it would have cost him petrol money to attend the scene

Uhm, the Thai newspaper is probably talking about 00:30 hrs.......that's just after midnight.

Couldn't the dog wait until next morning?

According to Thairat, the attack took place at ca 9pm on 17/10/11. The 00:30 time refers to the time the reporters got to the hospital on 18/10/11 to interview the wife after they were tipped off about the attack.

Strange story. The husband was attacked by 2 of the gang carrying 3"-wide cudgels. Maybe it's routine for Thai robbers to go armed like this or he was just unlucky...
