Triple Entry Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Just after a bit of clarification....

I have just applied for and been refused (due to being 43) my 4th Non-Immigrant Multi Entry 'O' Visa due to tightened rules at Hull.

I have been issued with a Triple Entry Tourist Visa as an alternative......

1. It is valid for 60 days then I have to do a 'visa run' to Mae Sai (same as I used to do on my old 'O' Visa for 3 years+?)

2. This then gives me another 60 days, so another 'visa run' to Mai Sai?

3. Then after that I do yet another 'visa run' to Mae Sai?

This gives me 180 days in total.

What are my options after that? Can i extend it again? Do I have to go back to the UK and get another? Also, more importantly, would I need a return ticket when I head back to Thailand in a few weeks or not?

Only came back for another Non Imm Multi 'O' Visa rolleyes.gif

Just want to be clear on the rules, any (constructive) advice welcome.

If you have a visa, you shouldn't need a return ticket. Also don't forget, that each 60 day entry can be extended 30 days for 1900 Baht, you just need to make sure you make the third entry before the "Enter Before" date.

Thanks Beechguy, how do you extend each 60 day entry? Local Immigration office or Visa run? Immigration office, I presume?

I don't quite understand this statement 'you make the third entry before the "Enter Before" date.', can you just clarify please, appreciated.

You extend for 1,900 baht using TM.7 and photo at local immigration office. After that exit/return/repeat but remember last entry must be made before the expiration date (use before/by) written on your original visa so you might have to leave/return a few days earlier than your last permitted to stay. If your visa expiration date is only 3 months as many locally are it would not be worthwhile extending any stay on a 3 entry visa.

Extension of a turist visa is done at the lcoal immigration office. Fill in a form and hand over 1,900 baht and a passport photo.

A visa has a validy, the enter before date or "this visa must be utilized before". Only during the time a visa is valid can you use it for entry. So if you would enter Thailand after the use before date you would no longer have a visa and only get a visa exempt entry (if you qualify). All the entries the visa is valid for must be made before that date.

Thanks all, appreciated....fully understood. So, in theory, I could get 270 days on a triple entry tourist visa? About 9 months.

60+30+60+30+60+30=270 days

Not as good a the Non Imm 'O' Visa but not too bad.

Hate to beat a dead horse but want to be sure you understand completely.

The triple entry visa has a date on which it expires (must enter before ......date here...)

You must use all the entries...all 3 entries...before that date.

After that date any unused entries are invalid and are voided.

So if that date is 90 days from when the visa is issued you lose any unused entries.

Now if the visa is valid for one year...you're laughing...no problem.

But if it is only 90 days after isuue...you probaly can't use all three entrys before the triple entry visa expires.

And if the period of the visa is 180 days, and you still have one unused entry on the 181st day...you lose that entry.

Now if they do give you a 270 day or longer visa...you can probaly get all 3 entries in before the visa expires.

That's why that "must be used before....date..." is critical.

So check it very carefully.

Ok, just checked and the visa says 'the visa must be utilized by 17/4/2012', so does that mean on 16/4/2012, I can do a visa run and when I re-enter, I will get another 60 says and then I can also go to Immigration at the end of those 60 days, pay 1900 baht and get a further 30 days?

As long as you have one of the three entries unused at that time yes.
