Don Muang To Central Ladprao

Featured Replies

I am planning to fly into Don Muang in the next day or so and go to a condo near central Ladprao, does anyone know if this is an easy journey with the floods/traffic jams etc. ? I know it is ususaly a 15 minute taxi ride down Vibhavadhi Rangsit but wont do the journey if it is going to be a nightmare. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

"Next day or so" is uncertain but if you were to fly in today you'd be fine. You might find it a bit quicker as there is not much traffic inbound to bangkok as everyone is staying at home. Outbound/north traffic can be bad though as there is severe flooding on the roads a few miles north (such as near futurepark Rangsit).

Not a problem at all. If you can land at Don Muang, you'll be fine. The elevated tollway above Vipawadee-Rangsit is not subject to flooding. Yes it will cost 60 baht, but it is hardly a huge sum given the costs of a flight and a hotel room.

Your biggest concern will be if Don Muang itself is closed due to the floods. Then you'll likely be diverted to Swampy, or if that is under water also, then probably down to U-Tapao. Getting from there to Lad Prao won't be fun at all.

drove from don muaeng to ladprao this morning. it was fine, moving fast. but feeder roads and connecting roads will be jammed.

as the crisis deepens north of don muaeng (sai mai, etc), will put increasing pressure on the Viphavadi-Rangsit tollway, including abandoned/parked cars (if the tow trucks can't keep up)

btw, imho it is likely that don muaeng will have some flooding in the next 24-48 hours (air force moved 30 planes two days ago), so you may be diverted

oh, one more thing... ladprao may not be the best area to be in either.

there is always some flooding from rains around SCB Park Plaza, and the JJ area is fairly low and prone to high water. and two N-S running klongs are perfect conduits for the onslaught from the north, and might overflow (Klong Prapa and the klong along Viphavadi Rd).

Cheers for the info. Dont fancy I diversion so I might stay where I am. Thanks.

Was on the bus this morning from Ngamwongwan to St Johns (next to central ladprao) no issues at all, roads clear and moving fast, no Khlongs on Vibahavdi Rangsit.

Khlong Prapa is not affecting the area at all.

Just come in at DMK and catch a bus or taxi down Vibhavadi Rangsit.

i guess you never noticed Klong Prem Prachakorn, which runs parallel to Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road (200m on its west side) from Don Muaeng to Chautuchak.

I've crossed it twice a day going to work for five years now and it hasn't moved...
