Location Of Bus Station

Featured Replies

Hi

I will be doing a bit of travelling in November and getting the bus from Hat Yai to Krabi.

I have never been to Krabi before and after a long bus ride don't want to go too far to the hotel.

Looking for something 600-1000 baht per night with air, hot shower, also wifi would be a nice to have.

Any hotel recommendations would be very welcome. A nice guest house would be fine too.

Also what is the transport round town like, and can someone let me know where and how to get to the ferry to Koh Yao Noi?

Many thanks

Hi Jay,

the bus station is sort of in an awkward place (wish they would move it), but my advice is wait for the cheapie truck that takes you to Ao Nang. If you are lucky and they know your bus is coming they will be there. Otherwise, grab a water and hang out, you won't be waiting long. It's about a ten minute ride.

Go to either Krabi Hostel who is a sponsor here (Simon, you want to send this guy a PM?) or to Ao Nang Grand Inn across from the MacDonalds Plaza. Ao Nang Grand Inn is centrally located you can walk to the beach and the girls at the desk in front will be able to arrange the Koh Yao trip for you. If Ao Nang Grand Inn is a little too low grade for you step next door to Ao Nang Village, they have some nicer rooms for a little more, people there very nice.

Must be a new world record. Krabi bus station to Ao Nang in 10 minutes....

Whatever Semper, o.k. 15-20 minutes. How about something helpful for the OP?

How about 45 minutes. You're not helping him with lies about the time spent on a songtaeo. 10 minute will take him to Krabi Town. :)

And to OP, City Hotel is quite nice.

Lies? Now you are being dramatic Semper, please..................I did the trip yesterday, granted in my car, took 15 minutes.

City Hotel puts this guy in nowheresville.

Grumpy.

Have you read the OP? If so, try reading it again.

He obviously want to stay in Krabi Town, hence my hotel recommendation. And if you can do the Bus station-Ao Nang trip in 15 minutes with your own car does not help the op a bit, unless you are going to pick him up at the station.

OP. transport around town is normaly walking. If you want to go to Ao Nang there is songtaeos that leave every 15 minutes or so outside 7/11. :)

Hi

Many thanks for all the advice so far

Would prefer to take a van over a songtao for a ride 30 min+ would guess that is easy enough from the bus station?

The Ao Nang Grand aircon rooms for 600 baht a night look ideal and view from the terrace looks great also.

cheers

Have a good time Jay.

For inexpensive food, across the street at nighttime there are cart vendors. 60thb for a good sized plate of vegetables and shrimp. Also, exit the Grand Inn hang a right and about four establishments up is a Thai food restaurant reasonably priced (still a little overpriced for Thai food but hey, it's Ao Nang), you'll see their board advertising 80thb dishes. I ate their last week and had quite a good and spicy Tom Yum soup. Cheers, GOM

Hi

Thanks for the input before.

Ended up staying at 'La Venice on the Beach' hotel with was about 800 baht a night on Agoda, and was a very nice and big room for the money and had all the facilities I needed and more. Would stay there again.

It took me about 20 mins from when the bus dropped me, on a 4 wheeled tuk tuk, I think I overpaid as driver said 400 baht, and told him (in Thai) it was expensive and offered 300 baht which he accepted far to quickly but after a 5 hour bus ride on a 2nd class bus from Hat Yai bus station, just wanted to get to the Hotel and have a shower. Not sure if it even was Krabi bus station, it seemed like was just dropped by the roadside 5555.

Ashamed to say that after a few days in Songkhla where only really eat Thai food I was craving farang food and did not eat Thai food in Ao Nang, had a pretty good Pizza in one of the Italian places. Did not eat Thai food again until I got to Koh Yai Noi 2 days later.

Overall enjoyed Ao Nang and will come back for more time in the future and also go and see Krabi itself.

Cheers
