Hi

I have a friend who came and got the usual 30 visa at the airport.

He would like to extend the visit for a further 2 months when his original 30 visa expires.

Is he able to get in a "oner" a further 2 months extension. If so - how to do.

There is no 30 day visa provided at airport so he must be from a visa exempt country. No extension longer than 7 days would be allowed. He can cross borders for 15 day stay - or fly back for 30 day as he has now or visit a Consulate in another country to obtain a tourist visa and use that for a 60 day entry.

Sorry, you are correct - yes he has come from the uk (visa exempt).

To which country can he go to obtain a 60 day entry, and must he fly there or just go overland to get it and any idea of the cost of a 60 day (not that it matters).

He is not a habitual "tourist" i.e. loads of back to back entries in his passport..

Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia or any other country with a Thai Embassy. Cost will be about 1,000 Thai baht in local currency (at most places) plus cost of travel/hotel/other country visa (Malaysia free).

Tks very much for the info lopburi3,

One last question - How long does the process take, i.e. apply one day and the next day pick it up?

Take a flight to Penang, Malaysia.

Lots of agents in Georgetown fix it for a smallish fee.

Application must be handed in before 12.00 and receive the visa next day after 13.00
