Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will be out of Thailand from Dec 9 til Dec 30. My "married to a Thai" visa is due for extension on 31 Dec.

This is a Saturday, so the immigration is closed.

My questions-

1 - Will they let me back into Thailand with one day left on my visa?

2 - Can I renew it before the 9th Dec?

3 - Does anyone have experience or suggestions for this?

N :o N

I'll be in the Uk - could I do something there?

Have more control?

I would visit immigration week of 9 December prior to your travel with the wife and normal proof plus proof of required travel - they can probably do you a few days early and issue a 40 day extension - you then will need a re-entry permit for that extension.

Thanks Lopburi. That's what I'll do.

Do you know if I could do it in Bangkok rather than Nong Kai?

Have more control?

I'll try :o

If Nong Khai knows you I would try there first would be my first take - but then most upcountry places only provide a 30 day extension and that would not be enough. Still think I would ask upcountry first and if they unable to find a work around and say to visit Bangkok so be it.

Actually Bangkok would be more convenient.

Are you saying that although I got the last extension at Nong Kai, I could go to Bangkok for it?

Believe you can always go to Bangkok as that is hqs and makes the decisions anyhow; if you have a valid reason. But I would try to do upcountry first to keep them in the loop and not let them get the idea you don't appreciate there service. A lot of people would be really upset if they had to go to Bangkok every year because they decided to close the office. :o
