My wife got a call today from her Mother who lives in Sahmut Prakan near Bangkok, She told my wife that the water has now reached where she lives, she lives in a Government apartment block, There are many poor Thai and Burmese people live there, its like a Council estate, My mother in-law lives there because she works in the local hospital, That too has been affected, the ground floor has been evacuated, So it has lost the ground floor space which is much needed because they treat a lot of Burmese people who live and work in the local factory's. it is partly funded by Charity and the Thai government. The people who live on the ground floor of these apartments have lost every thing, Unlike the mother in law, who we will help with financial aide when it is needed. They have nothing to fall back on. The problem is that there are very few places to sleep now because there are so many people affected, all trying to save what little precious things they have,The Government has told them to expect at least a meter of water in depth. the knock on affect is all electrical things have to be raised out of the water or they will be no good after getting wet, people Will try drying them. and there will be many people hurt from electrocution, also there are the Health issues from drains that have been stagnant for years now overflowing along with the sess pits, And with so many Snakes and insects around along with few escaped crocodiles. I now realize how bad it is first hand. so as you can say it has just hit home how bad it is for the people who live from hand to mouth. This is just a story of my mother in law maybe it will make people think ,sometimes pictures on the news make it seem far away until you are affected personally.
