Canadian Murder case from 1996 progressing through the Pattaya Court

PATTAYA: -- A 15 year old case of murder involving a Canadian who was extradited to Thailand is progressing through the courts according to the Attorney General’s Office. We received an update on Wednesday regarding the case involving Mr. Michael Morgan aged 52 whose current passport shows the name Michael Joseph Charles Karas, who returned to Thailand on 8th September following guarantees from the Thai authorities that they would not impose the Death Sentence should he be found guilty of murder. The case occurred on 23rd September 1996 when Mr. Morgan is alleged to have killed and then mutilated the body of his girlfriend Khun Suwannee. We have been told the case is due to be heard in court later this week at an initial hearing where the trial date will be set.
