Are the double-entry tourists visas not at all possible anymore? Mine is up in a few weeks and had been planning to go to Phnom Penh, but the TV reports from there are not encouraging. Likewise for Vientiane. Is this a fact? Penang and KL too? Does anyone have any different (positive) news? I have never had any difficulty in Vientiane before getting serial 2X TRs but I gather the game has changed. What about Myanmar or Vietnam? Am I to understand now that even for single-entry you have to show some combination of: 1. onward ticket, 2. hotel reservations or "official" address, 3. bank balances, 4.?. Anything else? It would seem to me that given the horrific damage that the floods are going to do to the Thai economy they would be making it very easy for people to continue bringing in and spending money here, but I doubt that is a factor in the visa requirements process.

I would be very grateful for the latest info that anyone has. Thanks.

My friend just come back from Vientienne with a single entry tourist visa as that's all he wanted as he's going back to the UK at Xmas, he already had 4 back 2 back double entries (all from Vientienne) and last time they gave him the dreaded red stamp too!

He had been worried about going back again for ages as he thought he was gonna get refused but gave it a go anyway and said if a no go he would fly back in to BKK to get the 30 days.

Anyway all worked out good for him, the women at the desk was not having none of it when she saw that stamp from last time and had long he's been here, he just blagged it and said he was going back home/UK for Xmas, he said it took a bit of time and persuading but she finally told him to go back at 3pm and she would have a word with her boss, he went back at 2.45 best not to be late and all that, it was the same women and ahe asked him for his passport and the 1000 baht for the single entry and was told to come back the next day as usual, he asked for a receipt but the bird just smiled and said "reb rooy lao" all sorted, so obviously that was a bit of backsheesh in someones pocket,.

He went back the next day got his P/P with the single entry but they did give him another red stamp but different to his last one. So he's well happy and with a bit of persistnce you could be lucky, be keep your cool and don;t lose your rag, and don't go on a Monday or Friday as busiest days.

All the best!
