"stopped short at throwing rocks at her" haha love it, this is what you deal with on this forum...fantasy and delusions.

... along with online identities recycled on a quarterly basis.

if you're referring to me, then you're barking (or whatever that blue thing in your av does) up the wrong tree mate...

i'm not a double agent internet poster, sorry.

Never said you were.

Seems like you don't dispute the statement in question though.

It has been a baptism of fire for the PM and its easy to be wise after the event but the whole flood situation seems to have handled badly from the start. It seem to have built around save Bangkok from flooding. Indeed the PM herself guaranteed that Bangkok would not flood! To me, a casual observer, that if water had been managed better, allowed to go down south sooner and into the sea, rather than let it build up in dams and flood everywhere on the way then maybe, the flooding would have not have been so bad and maybe Bangkok would not have so much water now. When all this is over I hope that the powers that be are honest with their views of what went wrong, what could have been done better and how do we make sure we dont let this happen again. Learn from this and if there have been some bad decisions made, why were they made? Self interest, Political or whatever and action taken. Dont sweep it under the carpet, the people of this country deserve better than that. they elected you to do better than this.

So G'kid, you believe the man said it ("We were told to come out for supplies, but there are not enough for everyone") with a smile on his face?

Get real.

No, but I have been on the other end of handing out relief supplies. It is usually a massive crowd surge with people grabbing for whatever they can get. Some people take more than they need stripping the trucks bare with the old, infirm and young pushed aside. The relief agencies get blamed because the relief supplies run out fast. There will always be people left out when the aid is handed out in this manner. The most efficient way is the quadrant distribution system where neighborhoods are serviced in an orderly manner. Unfortunately, mob mentality being what it is, people complain if they don't see these public spectacles and then we are treated to childish comments in TVF that aid is being hoarded or not being given out.. Tons of aid is handed out on a daily basis. The need to play to the crowds is resulting in an inefficient distribution. This isn't unique to the current government. The aid distribution was handled in the same manner during last year's floods.

She admitted that she was stressed sometimes

SOMETIMES??

Any Government minister, let alone a Prime Minister in any country anywhere in the world who is not stressed out 24/7 is clearly not taking their job seriously!!

If it were anyone else I'd assume there was a translation error here but I suspect not.

Talk to the Governor of Bangkok that allowed canals to be blocked or filled in. See the more specific thread. The canals in Bangkok were under the managment and control of the Governor of bangkok.

"Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was both cheered and jeered by people affected"

where's the 'jeered' part in the article?

Sweet jesus.............

However, at the Kosum Ruamjai market, where about 500 people had converged to wait for relief supplies, many who went empty handed expressed anger.

I expect they expressed anger by writing to the editor of The Times.

You dropped this part of the description which puts the expression of anger in context; "We were told to come out for supplies, but there are not enough for everyone,'' one man said.

The people were not described as jeering the PM.

I checked with The Times' editor (no one complained) so you must be right. Why anyone would jeer this decisive, strong and capable clone beats me.

Some would even go as far as to suggest she's responsible for a cabinet she didn't even choose. Funny people.

He has a nice pair of yellow wellies, but what influence did he have further up country as the folks up there got inundated, like I said a bit of water released at the right time might have done the trick, but that did not happen and now Bangkok feels exactly the same as what everyone in the flooded provinces felt.

It's pretty normal for this mob to stretch the truth to suit their own agenda isn't it?

Excuse me while I stick my finger down my throat.

what a simple-minded red shirt supporters? Sickening! The novice in Burberry outfit is the one and only responsible for the mistakes that have been made and that caused this deluge. This cannot be explained by coincidence of natural forces: it's the result of sheer mismanagement and blunt mistakes!

Time and reason will prove it!

What would YOU or any one else have done to manage the situation and appease everybody?

You can't please everyone with a natural disaster of this scale no matter what you do

It's been an exceptionally poor response from the Yingluck government since the git go from preposterous notions, announced a month ago, of boat propellers actually impacting a swollen and flooded river to outlandish announcements, made three weeks ago, that the flood waters had passed through Bangkok and the worst was apparently over.

Yingluck's ever-changing words of Bangkok won't flood to we're nearly through it to all of Bangkok will flood. The list of abysmal shortcomings goes on and on and none of which is related to the flood itself, but the government's horrific response to it. Their performance has been scrutinized and then duly berated in local and international media, panned by experts, and been deemed woefully inadequate in opinion polls.

If any of us on this site performed our jobs the way the current government has performed we would demoted at the very least, Fired would be more like it at my company. But they DO make the laws.

I've decided she and they are trying to figure out how to make money out of this mess for themselves. Opportunities only last so long. She should call her brother. He definitely knows how to screw his own people with corruption and scams.

I'm affraid Thai society is much too divided for that.

Everyone on the govt side, de reds, etc. will say what a wonderful job they have done, nobody could have done better (under the circumstances) and they didn't make any mistakkes at all. They will blame the floods on climate change, the previous government and the not cooperating bkk governor.

The opposition will blame the govt for indecisiveness, lack of communication and plain stupidity.

There is no middle path anymore. Either you're with us or against us.

The sure winners will be the army, quietly doing a great job at helping everyone...

First of all Yingluck is totally unqualified to be the PM. No experience at all dealing with every day normal issues that face any PM of every country. And her cabinet is equally unqualified to be cabinet ministers. One was selling fried lion steaks upon demand for God sakes. The experience of everyone involved in the government relief program has 0% knowledge of what to do at any given time. They are all family friends or political supporters that were appointed as pure pay back. Thus the current results of "Bangkok will not flood", Bangkok will be flooded" "the worse is passed", "be ready to evacuate" and so on.

The experts on flood control such as Khun Smith should have been called in from day one. But the adminstration chose to wing it with their own inner circle of minions and now sw see the results. A total fiasco.

How about when pigs fly? They have no where to put it. Their expertise is feeding at the trough, raking as much as they can, photo opps, and guaranteeing the education system in LOS keeps the sheep at the control level. Wouldn't want people to start thinking for themselves and questioning authority in a real manner whereby the government would have to answer to the people. Heaven forbid!
