I know this has been discussed many times but could some one tell me quickly what E20 is all about, my car says E20 so I am using Gasohol 95 can I use 91 as well?

E20 is a gas mix of 20% ethanol. Some cars that are rated this get a slight tax break from the government. A car that is rated E20 (As mine is) can run 91 (red) 91 green (a 10% blend) as well as 95 that is also a 10% blend.

E20 cost slightly less but most will also see slightly lower kpl with this fuel.

So just use what you want. I use the cheepest 91 usually just green 91 pump

most E20 compatible cars in TH can run octane as low as 91, but not all

in addition consumption of fuel will be more running E20 than E10, so E20 should cost less

as I know kenny999 has a March it can run E20 91 octane, but milage improves using E10

Don't confuse me which is easy to do by the way, petrol filler cap says Gasahol E20 which I assume is green 91, what is E10, Red 91?

Red 91 is petrol, no ethanol

green 91 comes as E10 Gasohol and E20 Gasohol

and to make it simple, best performance/economy for your March is Gasohol E10, as 91 or 95 octane. 91 cost less, but is often not available

and if you do not care about perfomance/economy, you can use anything except E85 and diesel

when government subsidies where removed for gasohol few months back, red 91 petrol got the same price as 91 Gasohol E10.

red 91 petrol lubricates better, is more stable during storage, and less agressive to fuelsystem, and more reliable octane rating, so I d say its the best fuel for your car

gasohol E10 has the advantage of cleaning fuelsystem, so an occasional tank of E10 or E20 is good for a E20 compatible vehicle

Thai fuels confusing . Not only do they have a mix of names, same product called E10, Gasohol and green 91, but in addition pump attendants have no clue on what they are selling

at Shell they still say V-Power 95 is not gasohol, despite containing 10% ethanol able to damage many vehicles

take it further to NGV (natural gas vehicles) using CNG (compressed natural gas), Ptt insists on calling the fuel NGV

Just to confuse further... since Feb 2010 Petrol (benzine) 91 is now coloured yellow.

Was red previous to that.

There is no such thing as 91 E20.

E20 is 95RON with 20% Ethanol blended.

Apparently your car is rated for 91RON benzene and/or E20.

This means you car can run on any of the benzene family of petroleum products for sale in Thailand, except E85.

91 Regular is very pale yellow in colour - not red any-more, however most stations have not updated their colour schemes - just look for Red91.

Gas91 is green. (E10-91) 10% Ethanol blend.

Gas95 is orange. (E10-95) 10% Ethanol blend.

E20 is light green. (E20-95) 20% Ethanol blend.

E85 is purple. (E85-95) 85% Ethanol blend.

Not denying that many garages fiddle their fuels, however why would you sell 95 from a 91 pump considering that 95 is more expensive than 91?

Ethanol blend fuels do smell a little different from straight benzene fuels. You can also faintly see it if you put the fuel in a clear glass container and hold it up to the light. Looks like tiny swirl lines moving around. However, I would not use this as a definitive test for the presence of ethanol.

95 GASO IS THE SAME PRICE. .. haven't seen 95 for years here .Thais went back to 91 when it became the same as 91 neat .i recon they are pumping 95 ,our Honda varies each time these days and she uses a 91 Pump
